Army of Women - Breast Cancer Research

First to recommend

Description

Army of Women is one of thousands of sites devoted to eradicating breast cancer, but this one has a brilliant approach. Instead of gathering a group of women who already have breast cancer and testing various possible cures on them, Army of Women wants to perform cancer research on one million HEALTHY women.

All you have to do to help is a) be a healthy woman, and b) sign up for free. Every month, you will receive an email detailing research projects that need volunteers within a certain demographic. For example, some researchers want to examine women who are between 50-59 who have never had children; others might want women between 30-39 who had a child before the age of 18, and so on.

Currently, the Army of Women has roughly 250,000 women on their email list, but their goal is to reach a million. If you don't want to sign up, or can't because you aren't a member of the fairer sex, you can still drop $5 on a "Beyond the Cure" pendant and help the cause.

Spread the word. By gathering as many volunteers -- and as much information -- as possible, one day breast cancer will be a distant memory.

Save Pushing Daisies! The official website of the campaign to save the ABC show, "Pushing Daisies"

Description

Pushing Daisies is one of my favorite shows to come along in twenty years. Brilliantly acted and written, it is also a visual feast unlike anything else ever seen on television.

Unfortunately, the knuckleheads over at ABC are not planning on bringing the show back after episode 13 of this year, which leaves just 6 more all-new episodes for us Daisy-philes to look forward to.

Currently, the producer has a comic book wrap-up planned and has been receiving offers to produce a Daisies movie. That in itself should be enough to tell ABC that there's a hardcore following for the show, but nope...

Anyway, go to this site and sign the petition to ABC (over 50,000 signatures so far), and find out the latest on what's happening with my (and your!) favorite show.

Description

If you're in the market for a puppy/dog, why not try your local SPCA first? Overpopulation is rampant with lots of breeds, and neglected/abused dogs need good homes, too.

Also, the SPCA is always in need of donations and/or volunteers. Call your local office and make a difference today!
