Healthy Snacks for Traveling - a list by FitnessKitty

About this list:
In a week I am flying to the East Coast which means a full day of travel. I am on a heavy duty eating plan ( I refuse to call it a diet because it isn't) so I need to pack accordingly -- I simply can't succumb to bad airplane food and mini Pizza Hut pizzas on my layover.

Fiber One Bars Oats And Peanut Butter, 5-Count Bars
First to recommend
Description
Everyone is always talking about fiber. Fiber this, fiber that -- we get it we need our fiber. But how? These Fiber One bars thats now. I got a pack of these a few weeks back and I have to say, they are pretty delicious. You won't even know they are good for you. The peanut butter topping takes the edge off so they are sweet and tasty. The only issue I had with them is the texture, they are a bit tough on the teeth so bite hard.

Dannon Products - Light & Fit

Description
Another can't live without product in my healthy eating repertoire, Dannon Light & Fit. I eat this 60 calorie yogurt after my workout for a nice calcium boot. Yogurt is great for beating belly fat and tastes pretty darn good. My favorite flavor is apricot and this yogurt is always on sale at the grocery store.

Caramel Corn Quakes | Quaker Rice Snacks

Description
Rice cakes get a bad reputation. They aren't little discs of cardboard like everyone says, they are delicious. I love Quakes the only downside is that they are seriously addicting. One serving is only 60 calories but its hard to stop after one AND they have sugar in them so be careful. They are good if you want something sweet- they are much better for you than a Snickers bar.

General Foods International On The Go Coffee House Drink Mixes

Description
I read about these on HungryGirl.com last night and immediately ran to the grocery store to find them. I did and boy are they delicious. I got the Vanilla Latte. It comes in a handy travel friendly packet, no sugar, only 60 calories and it foams ... it really foams. This coffee drink was pretty delicious considering a pack of 6 only costs about $5, so much cheaper than my daily runs to Coffee Bean. I couldn't find these online which leads me to believe they aren't popular yet. Which also leads me to believe I need to go back to the store to buy everyone off the shelf.

Raw Almonds

Description
Call me crazy but I won't go anywhere without nuts (mind out of the gutter kids). Almonds are my favorite and I like them raw (gutter ... hello). Almonds are great for banishing belly fat and are a great source of protein. Be careful not get too carried away, you only need 21 almonds which is one serving ... more than that gets you into dangerous territory.

Sun Maid California Apricots, 6-Ounce Bags
First to recommend
Description
I wouldn't know a real apricot if it bit me in the ass, but I do know a dried apricot and I love them. 5 pieces of dried fruit will do wonders for a sweet tooth and will keep hunger away (at only 100 calories). Sun-Maid are they best as far as flavor and freshness goes for me.

JELL-O Sugar-Free/Reduced Calorie Snacks
First to recommend
Description
Okay, they don't have the flavors that I like on the site that I like but I had to recommend the sugar free/ reduced calorie pudding anyway. I couldn't live without this stuff. This 60 calorie treat is the only thing I have. I used to be a cookie, cupcake, and candy monster but those days are done.
If you get the vanilla with caramel topping cup, add peanuts on top and I swear it tastes just like a McDonalds sundae. Really!
If you get the mint chocolate pudding cup add in a sprinkle of plain cheerios and it tastes just like a Girl Scout cookie. Think I am kidding? I'm not.

Kind Fruit/Nut Bars

Description
I just finished eating one of these bars (well about 2 hours ago) and let me tell you ... delicious! This ranks up there with Larabars, heck it may even beat them.. Taste was great, low in calories, pretty low in fat too. I had the walnut & date bar and it was so good. I highly recommend. (via JasonCook)
