Chris Joss - You've Been Spiked
First to recommend
Description
This is the album you listen to when you want to feel like Super Fly, Pootie Tang and Shaft all at the same time, or if you have the goods, grab your pimp hat, fur coat, cane and get some bling put in your grill. This album is so funky that you won't be walking, you will be strutting. This is the best funky soul album you could ever possibly own. Let's just call this album the soundtrack to a funky life.
The album was released in 2004 and I am going to say this is the rebirth of Funk and Soul!

Cut Copy - Bright Like Neon Love

Description
MMmmmmmmm, really like this album. I wasn't big on Electro-Pop, but Cut Copy has changed my mind. This album is very groovy and very chill. Besides Electro-Pop or Electroclash, what every you want to call it, I'm not big on male vocals, but something about (I believe it is Tim Hoey) the lead singer's voice that is just very relaxing and soothing. The entire album is melodic and upbeat.
I am going to go out on a limb and just say that Cut Copy is the male version of Ladytron.
My favorite tracks:
Future
Saturdays
Going Nowhere
That Was Just A Dream

SIRIUS Satellite Radio - The Best Radio On Radio
First to recommend

Description
Sirius satellite radio is my choice of all (I think there is really only two) the satellite radio services. I was lucky enough to have it in my ride and also be able to listen online as well. The programming is top notch as they have tons of commercial free music, sports, talk, comedy, you name it and they have it. I believe Sirius provides much better programming than XM as I have listened to XM as well. While XM is still playing catch up with their programming, Sirius is still leading the way.
Now, anybody can have Sirius with all the new products that come out from mobile satellite receivers, desktop receivers and even plug and play car kits.
Just a sample of the programming:
Music
-Chill (Downtempo, Nu Jazz)
-Pure Jazz (Jazz)
-Rolling Stones Radio (Rolling Stones and Rock and Roll)
-Boombox (Breakbeats and Electro Rock)
Sports
-NFL
-NBA
-NHL
-English Soccer
News
-US News
-Financial News
-Public Radio
Entertainment
-Comedy
-Talk
-Family & Kids
-Religion
Sirius Exclusives
-Howard Stern
-Martha Stewart
-Jerry Rice
-Rolling Stones Radio
As you can see there is something for everybody. Check it out if you get a chance as they have a free trial for listening online.

MediaMonkey (MP3 Jukebox Player, Music Library Organizer)

Description
MediaMonkey is my recommended pick for any body who has an extensive music collection on their computer or external hard drive. I especially recommend it for users that have an MP3 collection and also an iTunes collection as MediaMonkey is iPod compatible. The application isn't a memory hog and doesn't bog down your system.
I had use other applications before and they just couldn't handle the volume of music that I had. iTunes is a Windows RAM hog and slows down my computer, while MediaMonkey has been very solid and hasn't slowed down my computer. If you like the application, then I would recommend paying the $19.95 for the lifetime Gold version as it has several additional features that are great.
From the MediaMonkey site:
Organize music and edit tags in your audio library with a powerful, intuitive interface
Automatically lookup and tag Album Art and other metadata
Manage 50,000+ files in your music collection without bogging down
Play MP3s and other audio formats, and never again worry about varying volume
Record CDs into OGG, MP3, FLAC and WMA files
Convert MP3s, OGG, FLAC and WMA files into other formats with the Audio Converter
Create playlists and music mixes quickly and easily to suit any occasion
Synchronize with iPods / MP3 players effortlessly and convert tracks on-the-fly

Description
emusic.com is by far my favorite MP3 download site for music. You must be a member, but let me tell you... Being a paying member has giving me joy since 2000. The site has continually been adding new artists and labels. I have spent outrageous amounts of time searching through the massive music catalog looking for that one gem. I actually have upgraded my account several times and have continually purchases what they call "Booster Packs" so I could keep downloading music.
A large majority of my favorite record labels (Om, Ubiquity, Epitaph, and Global Underground) are on emusic.com. I honestly can't say enough great things about this site, and I don't think I need to since I have been a paying member since 2000.
Some of my favorite artists available on emusic:
808 State
Aloe Blacc
Angela Bofil
Apples In Stereo
Bad Religion
Pennywise
J. Boogie's Dubtronic Science
Quantic
J. Rawls
Omega Whatts
Breakstra
Billie Holiday
DJ Krush
Faruk Green
Kaskade
Layo & Bushwacka!
Meat Beat Manifesto
Moby
Modest Mouse
The list can go on and on and on...

Grado SR80 Headphones
First to recommend

Description
One of my newest purchases. I wanted a higher quality headphone for the times that I'm not running, skating or getting some freshies. The SR80 is hands down and feet in the air, one of the best sets of headphones I have purchased. Because of the different types of music I listen to, I gravitate heavily towards headphones that have a high quality bass range, and the SR80 has exactly that. The absolutely amazing thing.... The headphones cost just a hair under $100.
I am also very pleased with the aesthetics of the design. Nothing like old school style headphones.

DJ Krush & Toshinori Kondo - Ki-Oku
First to recommend
Description
DJ Krush is known for his funky, jazzy house style beats through out the world. Toshinori Kondo is one of the top trumpeters from Japan. The combination of a turntablist such as Krush and the trumpeting of Kondo seems like it wouldn't be a match. Yet, Krush constantly supplies the beats and Kondo fully delivers with the trumpet.
The album has a very beat conscious, melodic, dreamy and at times almost psychedelic. This is definitely not the album you would listen to before heading out on the town, but it is the album you would listen to once you were back at home after a long night out.

Quantic - An Anouncement To Answer (Ubiquity Records)
First to recommend
2 people recommended this item
Description
Quantic (aka The Quantic Soul Orchestra) has become one of my all time favorite artists. The tracks are funky, soulful, exotic, smooth and intoxicating. "An Announcement To Answer" is the newest release and is a must have. The tracks range from basic funk and soul to exotic Latin beats that get you grooving and wishing you could be transported to an exotic lounge on the beach or the rooftop bar.
On a separate note. I truly recommend checking out other artists on the Ubiquity Records label. While you won't find the majority of the artist getting air play on your local radio stations, the artists are definitely worth giving a listen to.
Other Ubiquity Artists:
Breakstra
Greyboy
Radio City
Ohmega Watts
Mr. Lif
High Contrast
Booka Shade
Daniel Meteo

Cinematic Orchestra - Every Day
First to recommend
Description
I was introduced to Cinematic Orchestra several years ago and they have become one of the few artists that I have recommended to everybody I discuss music with. This is definitely not your "A Typical" Jazz album. The melody and soul that come from every track on this album is mind melting.
This is the one album that I can listen to while wearing headphones and completely disappear into another world. Fontella Bass makes several guest appearances and most memorable would be on "All That You Give" and "Evolution".
This is the album that you don't want to ruin with words; you just want to play it and just let people hear it.
