Description

Colore Science Cosmetics blends the line between cosmetics and skincare with their mineral makeup. I’ve not always had luck with mineral makeup although many girls rave about the power of minerals. I have to rave about this line though. (via Hello Dollface)

Neutrogena Sheer Bodytint, Instant Temporary Tan

First to recommend

Description

If you’re feeling a little pasty, get an instant bronze glow without waiting for a sunless tanner to do its magic. This smart new product delivers a sheer wash of bronze color that lasts for hours, yet washes off with soap and water. The unique formula resists transfers (though we’d avoid wearing it with white) so it won’t smudge off. It’s also great for filling in any missed spots from a sunless tanning session. Korres Natural Products Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream SPF 30

2 people recommended this item

Description

’ve been using Korres Natural Products Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream= for several weeks now, and absolutely love it. This sunscreen has a faint watermelon scent, and contains vitamins and other ingredients to keep the skin healthy while simultaneously protecting it. Korres Watermelon Sunscreen is a “Broad-Spectrum” sun-block. The term “Broad-Spectrum” implies that both UVA and UVB protectors are present in the formula. Korres Natural Products Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream contains the following active ingredients: Octocrylene, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide. It is non-comedogenic and free of mineral oil, silicone, propylene and ethanolamine.

If you can, try to avoid direct sun exposure between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. If you have to be out in the sun, I highly recommend Korres Natural Products Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream. (via Raging Rouge)

Yves Saint Laurent Nail Touch

First to recommend

Description

The idea behind this nail color pen is ingenious. Similar to their cult favorite concealer Touche Eclat, Nail Touch is a pen with the color and brush attached right to it. Just pump the end and the color dispenses on the brush, ready to hit your fingernails. It’s the perfect size to just drop into your purse and go. The nail polish inside is thinner than the average nail polish, which I assume is to make it dry quicker. As soon as you brush it on, the polish gets really tacky almost instantly and then is dry within about a minute. In theory, I should be in love with this.

But, in practice, I’m underwhelmed. The brush attached to the pen was a little too wide and unwieldy for me. The polish did not go on smoothly at all. Also, because the polish is so thin, it goes on really streaky. I tried two colors – #4 (a beigey pink similar to Essie Ballet Slippers) and #1 (clear). The both went on streaky. The clear dried to a pretty finish but the beigey pink dried with the streaks and looked quite the mess on my fingers. The drying is also a little hard to navigate. By the time you get one coat on all your fingers, it’s way too tacky to come back for the second coat so the streaks just look even worse. (via Groove Effect)

Four-Step Nail Block

First to recommend

Description

My mom gave me this nail block from Body Shop yesterday telling me that it was the most amazing nail product she had ever come across. I had never heard of these four-step buffers before even though it seems they have been around for a while. I´ll share my new found knowledge to the poor souls out there who are as oblivious as I was.

With this buffer you go through four steps that are

1. File nail edge

2. Remove ridges

3. Smooth nail and

4. Shine nail.

The result is amazing; your nails end up looking so shiny that it looks like you´re wearing nail polish! I was astounded by how great this product really is, and so simple! They´re $4 at Body Shop, so if you don´t already own one, you should get one immediately! (via Style Bytes)

Borghese Sali Esfoliante Salt Scrub

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

In a season where self tanners and bare skin feel like a must, the routine can be harsh and time consuming. There are a million salt scrubs on the market, making selecting one almost as difficult as finding the right tanning formula. Most are made with large salt granules, and are combined with a heavy amount of fragrance and oil, making it very difficult to wear any fragrance besides that of the scrub. So what’s a gal to do?

Borghese has the answer, with their Sali Esfoliante Salt Scrub ($37). This scrub moisturizes while it exfoliates, with a combination of avocado, mango and shea butters to create a creamy texture, without the need for messy oils. Plus, the salt crystals are more refined, leaving your skin feeling invigorated and smooth to the touch. Sali Esfoliante has a light marine scent, making it easy to wear any fragrance of your choice after use. (via Style It)

Alterna Cavier Shampoo

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

It’s rare that I’m amazed by a shampoo and conditioner. I’ve usually relied on drugstore brands because I couldn’t really see a big difference versus the higher-end ones. That is, until I discovered the food of the gods for hair: Alterna Caviar Volume Shampoo with Seasilk. And yes, like delectable caviar, this stuff is true indulgence.

Why caviar in a hair product, you ask? Caviar Extract is a rich source of nutrients like Omega-3s and antioxidants. It’s basically like nutrition for your hair. And my tresses have never felt or looked better, lovelies. It feels softer and smoother and looks shinier. While the Volume formula didn’t give me amped-up volume, my hair did look bouncier and less flat than usual. Overall, my locks feel super-manageable and I love that this stuff protects against environmental stresses and sun damage – it’s like skincare for my hair! The scent wowed me too – it’s a lovely citrusy bergamot fragrance gives me that extra perk-me-up in the morning to go along with my bergamot-fragranced Earl Grey tea.

But just like caviar, this stuff doesn’t come cheap – it’s priced at $30 a bottle. So while it might suit the lifestyles of the rich and famous, I might only use this for special occasions only. But it’s been mighty hard not to reach for it every time, let me tell you (via SugarShock)

Juice Organics Nourishing and Brightening Cleansers

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

I recently sampled both Juice Organics Nourishing and Brightening Cleansers. The Nourishing Cleanser was a creamy moisturizing treat. It removed my makeup well, and my skin felt soft and looked clean after use. I highly recommend the Nourishing Cleanser for those with normal, dry or sensitive skin. The Brightening Cleanser uses hydroxy-acid rich fruit juice to slough away dead skin cells and refresh the complexion. I can attest to the fact that this really works! My skin looked downright rosy after using this cleanser the first time. The Brightening Cleanser is best for those with normal to oily skin, or for a periodic “refresher” by we of the dry-skin variety. (via Raging Rouge)

Lancome Sunblock UV Expert 20 with Mexoryl

First to recommend

Description

Basically, they say sunbathing is bad, bad, bad, but every once in three years, I show my legs and arms to the world. And, I just found out I was the last one to know about ChikaLicious, a dessert restaurant. Yessiree, you heard that correct, dessert restaurant. Now instead of working, engorging myself with pastries in the afternoon sun is my new “goal.” This could spell trouble. To support this effort, I am so excited about my tube of Lancome’s new sunblock UV Expert 20 with Mexoryl ™

SX Face and Body Protection. Mexoryl, the recently FDA-approved European ingredient blocks out UVA (ultraviolet A) sunlight, not just UVB (ultraviolet B) sunlight, helping to prevent melanoma and other types of skin cancer. Also, the texture of this sunblock is dreamy, and triples as both a “base” and can work as an extra layer of protection with your SPF 15 foundation, if you’re into the mineral makeup thing.Buy it: Lancome Sephora. MAC Brow Clear Finisher

First to recommend

Description

One of my many lazy traits is that I don’t like plucking my eye brows too much. Many girls I know pluck them into these perfect and narrow arches, and while that looks great on some people, it just looks so superficial on others. Some of my brow hair is a bit long and they droop down so they make it look like I’ve got hair under the brows and mess up the arches.

One way to deal with this (not from solid knowledge) is that you can cut long eye brow hair shorter. I can’ t even figure out how to pluck my eye brows to get that arch, so I definitely don’t want to start cutting my brow hair. (And I’m still way too cheap to get a professional plucker to do my brows.)

The second way is use a product to make the brow hair stay in position. This way can be done in a variety of products. You’ve probably seen those eye brow shapers that look like mascaras, such as from Bobbi Brown. I’ve thought about trying those mascara-looking brow shapers out but I figured since I wouldn’t be using it often, I wanted a product that I wouldn’t have to replace after six months usage. Thankfully, when I visited MAC to look at eye shadows, the saleslady recommended me MAC’s Brow Finisher (picture above,) which is basically a wax stick. It applies on clear so you can’t really tell you’ve applied makeup on there. Most importantly, I just really like how simple it is to just stroke the finisher at the outer ends of the brow to keep the brow in position. So even if you’re only so-and-so eyebrows, fixing their shape really helps define them. It is now a must-have in my makeup bag. Loves it! (via I Am Fashion)
