Fiskars Big Grip Trowel #7073
First to recommend
Description
Perfect for planting small annuals, herbs and vegetables; planting container gardens; digging out weeds, and moving/scooping soil. A hand trowel is an essential in any gardener's arsenal. I like this one because it's blade is over-sized and can move more soil than a typical trowel. Also, it's steel blade is coated to resist rust and has a rubberized handle for comfort. Radius Garden Natural Radius Grip PRO Spade #201
First to recommend
Description
A square-headed shovel with a shorter handle that will definitely come in handy in the garden. I bought this one because of its ergonomic handle and extra-wide step. I wanted to maximize power without injuring my wrists. This design boasts four times the surface area for gripping, and you can use both hands. Its shaft is "unbreakable". The head is composed of a special alloy that is lighter than aluminum, but similar in strength to steel. I don't experience the typical frustration I would get using heavier less balanced tools. These stakes and poles are extremely lightweight, yet strong and durable. They are cheap! Look for them at your local nurseries and garden supply stores. Bamboo is natural and doesn't ugly up your garden. You can use them as plant stakes, markers, supports, trellises, A-frames, bean teepees, pea fences and decorative rails. Keep your flowers and plants from flopping. (via gardeners.com)

Portable Potting Tray
First to recommend
Description
This portable potting tray get rid of the mess of repotting, transplanting and mixing soils. It is made of 100% recycled plastic. It provides a deep basin to corral the soil and water that you're working with. There is an upper ledge to hold pots, tools and even to get those pesky plastic plant labels out of the way. It has become an essential for me as an urban gardener that lacks for space. It's inexpensive --- way cheaper than a full-sized potting bench. Lightweight with handles, for easy carrying.

TerraCycle All-Natural Tomato Plant Food with Worm Poop
First to recommend
Description
An organic fertilizer made from worm poop! (No, it doesn't smell.) It's contained in a re-used pop bottle. This stuff has done an amazing job on my tomatoes this year. The tomato fertilizer is different from the other Terracycle products. It has a calcium boost which helps to prevent Blossom-end Rot. (via greennationgardens.com)

A serious must-have for gardeners at all levels. This is a book/manual has the latest information soils, plants, tools and techniques. The methods suggested are all organic. It has a huge plant list, expanded in this edition. Includes garden design plans. It contains dozens of superb line drawings, but that happens to be the only thing about the book that I wish were different. When it comes to plants, I prefer photos.
