Clipper City beers

this line of beers started in baltimore and is still maryland-based. personal favorites from their 'heavy seas' collection: loose cannon hop^3, a 7.25%abv ipa; the small craft warning uber-pilsner, 7.25%, citrusy and creamy; peg leg stout, 8% and dark as blackbeard's heart.

they also live up to maryland's rep for questionable stylistic decisions with some of the ugliest label and carrier art i've ever seen. worse than the ones steadman did for flying dog, even.

Corazon de Agave Tequila Reposado

in college, this was the first tequila that actually convinced me it could be enjoyed. one of my friends started up a poker website, bought a bunch of top-shelf beer and liquor, then decided he preferred pbr to carlsberg. i think he's doing grad studies in math now.

anyway, reposado tequilas are aged for a year in oak, which gives them a lot more complexity than the 'gold' varieties, which are generally just 'white' tequila with color added (standard-issue cuervo, for instance). this one is damn good, without the harshness of cheap tequilas.

the bottle can also be used as a club should the party go bad.

a deliciously sweet and drinkable bourbon, with a slightly weird metal/copper taste on the finish. highly recommended, especially since it's like $30.

Sofia Mini Blanc de Blancs is not something I would drink on a regular basis; not even on a semi-regular basis. It's not so horrible that I couldn’t finish the entire can (which the bartender actually poured into a glass for me), but I also had no other choice, and as I have said before, "boozers can't be choosers."

While I can appreciate the novelty of its being in a can, I can’t quite understand how the convenience of a portable 4-pack overrides a better tasting bottle in a bar. Still, I suppose it would be fun to do the Capri Sun thing if I were at the beach (ha! but I never go to the beach, so there!)

Here's the stuff for the wine geeks: it's made of 70% Pinot Blanc, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Muscat Cannelli.

Greg Norman Estates NV Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir

all right, this isn't quite under $15, but i had to make an exception for it. delicious 57% chardonnay/43% pinot noir sparkling wine (pinot noir can be used to make whites, too). excellent cheap wine for new year's/what have you. too good for mimosas, in my opinion.
