Description
i've watched this movie several times (the first time at a filmfest w/th an hysterical crowd was quite something) and i'm still laughing my head off. cannot wait for the next Wright/Pegg collaboration!

In Bruges

Description
don't be fooled by the trailer - 'In Bruges' is a black comedy, not a comedy. once you get that you shouldn't be disapointed or surprised if tragic stuff happens. also, you'll probably recognize most of the shooting locations if you've visited Bruges. one of my favorite movies of 2008.

Southland Tales

Description
one recommendation before viewing: read the 'Prequel Saga' comics - excellent introduction to the complex storyline of Southland Tales. it's not a movie most people will understand or love. if you like complex movies who make your brain hurt, this is your perfect pick. the cast is amazing, not to mention Moby's dreamy score. might need a second viewing (or more). highly recommended.

Control (2007) DVD

Description
For his directorial debut, Anton Corbijn (famous photographer/video director for U2 and Depeche Mode, among others) gives an intimate look on Ian Curtis, Joy Division's frontman, who tragically died at age 23. Luckily Corbijn didn't based his movie entirely on Deborah Curtis' book - or else this would have been a very negative portrait - but asked his friends/relatives, including his belgian mistress, who never spoke about their relationship before. A true masterpiece, especially due to Sam Riley's stunning performance, "Control" will also be appreciated by non-Joy Division fans. One of my top 10 movies of 2007.

Blade Runner (Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition) [HD DVD]

Description
Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, but i can't help wondering if so many versions (theatrical, international, director's cut, etc) were *really* that necessary. awesome collector's item however - that said, the US edition is way much cooler than the european one (which is only a dvd boxset).

The Fountain

Description
"The Fountain" is a like it or hate it type of film; its romantic, new age elements will make some cringe, while others will be deeply touched. As for interpretations... Aronofsky compared his latest effort to a Rubik's Cube, saying it can be solved in different ways - for my part i only see one interpretation, but hey that's just me. The graphic novel (released after the first draft of the film, starring Pitt & Blanchett, was dropped) is a must-read before viewing.

[REC] DVD

Description
finally a horror movie that REALLY scared the shit out of me! i won't say much about the story, caus the less you'll know about it, the better - that's why you shouldn't watch the trailer (reveals too much). simple, predictable, but oh-so effective. dvd includes making of/interview & deleted scenes.

Description
Black Books is a british sitcom created & co-written by Dylan Moran (Shaun of The Dead, Run Fat Boy Run), who centers around the dialy life of a drunken, eccentric bookshop owner, Bernard Black (Moran). If you like good, cynical, surrealist comedies, this one's for you - personally, watching Moran in action is one of my guilty pleasures... Uhm. Boxset includes the complete series (3 to be precise), deleted scenes and audio commentary.
