Buff scarf/bandana/mask

Description
Designed to combine the functionality of the scarf, headband, bandana, face mask, and headwrap. According to my friends who used these last year at Burning Man , these worked extremely well. They also used it on their two-year old daughter, and she was very good with keeping it on (photo is of mom and daughter in front of art sculpture).

goggles polarized lenses

Description
These are similar to the previous ones I've recommended from Bugeye, except they have polarized lenses. It's a huge difference for me when fly fishing, but I'm not as picky about using polarized ir bit during Burning Man. The shape is nice and they work.
I think it's best if I think hhey think they know something

Black Diamond Spot LED Headlamp

Description
You will be setting up camp in a temporary city that runs only on generators and batteries - this means there are no street lights. You will be immobile without a light mechanism, so if you try, it is possible you will get hit by a bicyclist or an art car. Not a good idea because there's so much art to see, you'll want to stay the entire week.
There are less expensive headlamps for around $20. Those will work fine. This one is medium-priced at $43. I own about four different types, and this is by far my favorite. It's surprisingly light-weight and very comfortaable. The wide band does not give me ring around the head (you know what I mean). It spots like a flashlight. Very powerful for how light it is. The cool part - it pivots so you can point the lamp down towards your feet for walking or raise it to straight in front of you if you are on your bike. The battery is stored on the back of the lamp, so it packs small. The single headband hangs easily from the roof of my tent, providing additional tent light when I need it.

Pollution and Smog Mask

Description
This mask was designed to act like a hepa filter air cleaner... You can buy replacement filters. If you are super sensitive to dust, this is a good way to go. Otherwise I recommend bandana or scarves over the construction dusk masks. You can layer your scarf as needed. For me the construction masks leave too much gap around the edges.

Cheap Cruiser Bike
First to recommend
Description
I bought a refurbished bike - for more than the cost of this cruiser from Amazon (damn it!) - but I do feel better about reusing something that was originally thrown away.
No cars are allowed as transportation around the camp ground (except art cars), so you will need a bike. Read very carefully. DO NOT take your good bike to the Playa. It will be destroyed by Playa dust. Buy the cheapest bike you can find with WIDE tires. Many people abandon their bikes at the end of Burning Man (mostly foreign travelers who flew in for the event). If you are going early (the day of opening), there is a place on the way to Burning Man, about 5 miles out, that sells the reclaimed abandoned bikes from last year's Burning Man. They are super deals at about $25-$50. But you are risking it by doing this. You cannot get around easily without some type of transportation. Burning Man is huge, and you often have to commute far out to see all the art.

Bicycle Combination Cable Lock
First to recommend
Description
At Burning Man, you will want a combination lock for your bike because most likely, you will lose your key dancing in the middle of nowhere... The walk back can be very long and lonely (oh, I wouldn't count on friends sacrificing their bikes to walk with you...). But you may forget the numbers? Nah. Code it 111 or 123 or 222 - something easy to remember. The lock is not to protect your bike from thieves. It's to "help" confused individuals understand your bike is not theirs. People accidentally take the wrong bike all the time. This lock acts as pure hinderance to avoid the "borrowing" your bike (until they realize it's not theirs, which is usually 24 hours later).

Bicycle Headlight

Description
Yes, you should (must) have a headlight for night riding. Trust me, it makes life sooo much easier (aaahhh, yeah, I went without one once... Not a good idea.)

Bike Bell

Description
There will be 30,000 people attending Burning Man this year. 25,000 of those people will be riding bikes with no traffic lights. 20,000 of those people will be doing so at night. More than 10,000 will be, let's say, not in the best state to be riding. A bell is very, very important. Cause the guy in front of you may start doing figure 8's because he's in lah-lah land. Not good.
In all seriousness, it is amazing that people do not get injured on bicycles at Burning Man. I was amazed that people can traffic themselves in the middle of the night with only the stars, their headlamps and headlights. I did, though, hear lots of bike bells and horns.. On the main strip, it made me think of the taxi horns in NY. Very funny, actually.

iRenew Flashlight 986 Dynamo
First to recommend
Description
For the ones practicing the green theme this year at Burning Man, bring a couple of these energy wind-up flashlights instead of your 4x D battery required lanterns. Those batteries leave so much material behind after they're depleted. Yuck.
