Endurance Backpack with Bladder
First to recommend
Description
I recommend a smaller backpack that is made for sport activities. They are designed to stay out of the way with lots of movement... You will need one that has a water bladder and tube system. Trust me, it'll be your best friend by day two.
There are very good ones from different brands, but I like this Patagonia one for its look. It's quite Burning Man'esque isn't it? I love Patagonia.

CamelBak Bottle

Description
The bite and drink system is important. The sand/dust at Burning Man is very fine, and it gets into everything you bring with you. You're often surprised when you get home, "how the heck?" A water bottle is important, especially if you do not have the camelbak water bladder.

REI Base Camp 4 Tent
First to recommend

Description
Whether you are setting up camp for 1 or for 2, the four-person tent is the way to go because you are required to bring all your needs with you, including water to drink and to bath. The four-person leaves enough space for storing a day's worth of needs, with the remainder stored in your car. (Park close to tent set-up.) If you are going by RV, I would still bring a tent, though it doesn't have to be this nice. You want to store your outfits (costumes) in the tent, leaving room in the RV for guests. Trust me, they'll come, especially if you have the air-conditioning running.
For $339, this is not the cheapest tent out there, but it is one of the better ones. I own this, and it works great. What to look for:
- Sealed seams. It does not rain at the playa, but you will get sand storms, which will enter your tent no matter how sealed you try to make it.
- Lots of ventilation. It gets HOT. This tent has four side ventilation AND roof ventilation.
- Storage. Not a necessecity, but great to have. This tent has a mesh attic and lots of mesh pockets for storing important things, such as headlamps, goggles, etc.
- Strength. During a wind storm, I've seen tents fly. So make sure yours is sturdy.
- Space. It is not uncommon to change outfits 3 times a day, so might as well give yourself some room for doing so.

Reliance Fold-A-Carrier - 5 Gallon

Description
You will also need to bring utility water - water to wash your dishes, your hands, your hair, and anything else. And if you're okay with drinking tap water, then for drinking too. This container is ideal because it collapses when it's empty, making it easy to pack-up at the end of a long adventure.

Flip Lid Storage Box - 4 Pack
First to recommend
3 people recommended this item
Description
This is the only way to store your clothes to keep them clean at Burning Man. The dust is very fine and it will take over your tent and everything you have inside. These are not 100% airtight but they still work well. I like the see-through ones for quick identification of content (if it's easy to do so, like my shoes box).

Drinking Water
First to recommend
Description
Burning Man will provide two things - block ice and coffee (not kidding). Everything else you need to bring with you. Bring plenty of drinking water, twice what you normally drink at home. It is warm and dehydration is not uncommon. I prefer this size because it's easy to pour if you are in a tent, and it takes less floor space, which becomes valuable when you realize you packed too much clothes.

Saline Moisturizing Nasal Spray

Description
No matter how careful you are or how many masks you have on... You are going to breath in playa dust. It may help to wash it out sometimes. In addition, it's hot and dry. Your nose will take a beating just breathing in that air. I like this spray because it has the extra moisturizing ingredient, which does help.

Foam Ear Plugs

Description
Burning Man is like a rave on steroids. You will hear electronica pounding 24/7. The trick to sleeping through it all? Ear plugs. I was lucky. I hung out with some seasoned Burners, and they taught me some very good tricks for living comfortable on the playa.

Ziploc Freezer Bag 2 Gallon
First to recommend
Description
The 2 gallon ziplocs are perfect for storing clothes individually airtight to prevent playa dust damage. The pull tab makes it easy to remove items and return them again after wear. Even inside the plastic bins, the dust will find their way to your stuff. Very handy to have ziplocs around.
