The Poet and the Dragon - Live...Somewhere in This World
First to recommend
Description
Tyla (frontman for the Dogs D'Amour and poet extrordinaire) and guitarist extrodinaire Dregen (from the Backyard Babies)! These two together are just amazing. They do some Tyla songs, some Dogs D'Amour songs and some Backyard Babies songs (which Tyla really makes his own). This was their drunken tour through Scandinavia and I believe Spain.

Keef and Ronnie toured around 1979 as the New Barbarians. I'm sorry I was too young to check it out at the time. They are at the drunken bluesy sexy best. The do some Stones tunes, some of Ronnie's solo stuff as well as Keef's. Best listened to with a shot of whiskey! Cheers!

I've been really in an Izzy mood lately. He is one of my favorite guitar players of all time. 117 Degrees has been spending a lot of time in my CD player lately, as well as Izzy's first solo project after leaving Guns and Roses, Izzy Stradlin' and the JuJu Hounds. This CD is very underrated, IMO. If you love that Exile on Main Street sound, you can't help but love Izzy's solo stuff (for those of you who are fans, this is no new news). One reason I think Izzy is so damn cool is he is really not so much concerned about his image as he is about his music. As much as I'm a tech junkie, I just think it is so hard core and cool that Izzy has no web site. So if you want to know what type of toothpaste the man uses, if he's on line right now, what mood he is in and how many on line friends he has, etc. you are out of luck. Yes folks, that's right. You have to find out about Mr. Stradlin' the old fashion way. Listen to his music and let the music do the talking (in the words of the fantabulous Mr. Joe Perry).

Part of my holy trinity of Stones albums. Many say this is the definitive Rolling Stones record, but I like Let it Bleed a bit better. With that being said, this is an awesome CD and a must have! Grab your Whiskey and enjoy!

Early material from one of my fav. bands on the planet, Sweden's Diamond Dogs. If you love the Faces, etc. you will definitely love the Diamond Dogs. My fav. song on this one is the title track, Bound to Ravage. It has a mean slide guitar that I just adore!

The smartest thing Izzy ever did was leave Guns and Roses (who died for me the day he left). He was the heart and fucking soul of GnR. Sure, Slash is a good guitarist, but his playing does not have the bluesy soul that Izzy's does. This is the first CD that Izzy did after leaving GnR. It still holds up to this day and just sounds amazing. Does Izzy love Keith Richards and the Faces? Sure he does!! Are those influences apparent on this disc? Sure they are, which is part of why I love it. It also doesn't hurt (and adds street cred) that Ian McLagan plays keyboards on this disc and Ronnie Wood himself takes up background vocals and guitar on Izzy's wonderful cover of his own Take a Look at The Guy. Izzy also does a great cover of Pressure Drop. Hell, the entire CD is great start to finish. Get this CD and see why I could really give a crap and why you shouldn't either when the much rumored new GnR (minus Izzy of course) CD Chinese Democracy comes out! ;-)

The spirit of the Faces live on in the Quireboys! I love every CD these guys have done. This is one of their most recent and one of my favorites. Great CD from start to finish. Spike and co. are in fine form here! My fav. track is the Finer Stuff, although all the tracks are great!

Chinatown - Chinatown

My absolute favorite CD of 2006 (along with Primal Scream's Riot City Blues). I can't say enough good things about Vancouver's Chinatown. Think the Faces meet old school Guns and Roses (cira. they days when they were good with Izzy) and Backyard Babies. Good straight ahead, junkie, sleazy rock! Order it now and let me know what you think. You can buy me a drink and thank me later!
