Enjoy The Time You Waste - Drugdealer Cheerleader

Description

These guys will be huge (at least if the general public ever comes around to have decent taste in music). Think New York Dolls meets Guns 'n ' Roses meets T Rex! Thank the Goddess for the British! Order this and impress your friends with your amazing taste in music! They will wonder at you for discovering the next huge band! ;-)

The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion - The Black Crowes

First to recommend

Description

This is not so much a CD of songs to me as it is a mood! And oh, what an amazing mood it is! I personally think that the Black Crowes are the great American rock band (unfortunately I think they are sadly underrated by the general public). This is one of my fav. CD's of all time. You really have to listen to it start to finish. It just blends in such a seamless and smooth way! Listen to this and see what great American rock sounds like!

Live from Kilburn - New Barbarians

Description

Ronnie and Keef, when they were both delicious, captured on video. What more do you want?

Seriously, here is the description from Amazon:

"Two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 0 DVD) set recorded and filmed live in London in 1974 at a concert in support of Ronnie Wood's first solo album, 'I've Got My Own Album To Do' Ronnie Wood was, at the time, a member of the Faces as well as a solo artist, and he was soon to become the 'new boy' in the Rolling Stones. Wood's band on this live outing featured many of the musicians who helped him on the album, including Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, Small Faces/Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan and the exceptional talents of session musicians Willie Weeks (bass) and Andy Newmark (drums). Also features a guest appearance from the Faces' vocalist Rod Stewart. Both the Cd and DVD feature an exclusive track with digitally remastered audio and video from Ronnies personal archive. The release includes an eight-page booklet with hand written liner notes by Ronnie Wood and previously unseen photos."

Freak N Roll into the Fog - The Black Crowes

Description

Watch this and see what a great American rock band looks like! These guys are so amazing live (I've seen them at least 3 times). If you have never had the chance to catch them live, or have and just want to reminded how great they are then pick up this up ASAP. It was shot at my beloved Fillmore which makes me love it even more. The only thing wrong with this show is that I wasn't there! heheheheh

Shine a Light: Original Soundtrack - The Rolling Stones

Description

You really need to pre-order this soundtrack to the new Scorsese directed Rolling Stones movie, Shine a Light. All this month they have Rolling Stones radio (Rolling Stones 24/7) on Sirius Satellite Radio and are playing tracks from the CD. Yesterday I heard Champagne and Reefer (with Buddy Guy) and it smokes (so to speak)! If you go to the website for this movie, you can watch a preview. I know some might say, "oh those guys are way too old to rock", but let me tell you differently. Watch the preview and listen and you will see why now, even as they enter their twilight years they are the greatest rock band on the planet.

Also, note that there are two versions of this CD. One is just 1 CD (and is only tracks from the movie). And this one, which I'm recommending. This one is 2 CD's and has songs that were recorded during the concert at the Beacon Theater, but not included in the movie ("Paint It Black", "Little T&A", "Shine A Light" and "I'm Free")

Talk Is Cheap - Keith Richards

First to recommend

Description

If you are a Maven what do you listen to? Motherf*&ing Keith Richards, what else??!!! If you love hearing Keef sing with the Stones (some of my favorite all time Stones songs, such as You've Got the Silver are sung by him) then get this CD. This is his first solo CD (and also my favorite of his solo CD's) and you can hear him sing to your hearts content. He's Keef, he's my idol and he's cool as hell. What else is there really to say!

Music by Mavens

Updated May 14, 2008

Music by women who are true Mavens (and a few who are new on the scene and appear to be up and coming Mavens, IMO).
