Inniskillin Cabernet Franc Icewine

Description

When you first kissed my lips you tasted delicate, sweet as honey and redolent of roses. But an underlying complexity belied your superficial pinkness. You challenged my palate as well as my mind, and thus began a lifelong affair.

Inniskillin Oak-aged Vidal Icewine

Description

I'm crazy for this stuff. It's sweeter than most people like, but it is intensely complex. Serve well chilled, and be amazed at how its complexion changes as it slowly warms up. An excellent dessert wine.

Domaine Pinnacle Ice Cider

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

Ice Cider is made much like ice wine -- the apples are left on the tree through the first frost, intensifying the flavor but resulting in a lower yield. Of the ones I've had Domaine Pinnacle pleased me the most. Beyond the expected sweet-tart flavors, it has a complex earthy funkiness. Pairs excellently with a cheese platter at dessert.

Elephant Island Crab Apple Wine

First to recommend

Description

Elephant Island is an all-fruit winery in the up-and-coming Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The Crab Apple Wine is wonderfully sweet-tart yet complex. It's a fabulous dessert wine, not sickly sweet like so many others.

LOLONIS WINERY - 2002 Heritage Vineyards Eugenia Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc

First to recommend

Description

I'm intrigued by the San Francisco Chronicle's description of this wine as being "unctuously full of caramel, coffee, cappuccino and molasses flavors that go sweetly on and on."

Sauternes Wine

Description

Sauternes is rich, sweet and complex. Fabulous as a dessert wine, but also a classic complement to foie gras and other intensely rich dishes.

Dry Sack Sherry

First to recommend

Description

Maybe a little sweeter than some like their sherries, but I like the complexity of Dry Sack. It's still dry enough to have as an aperitif, but also nice as a finisher after a nice spicy meal.
