Grandin Road: Men's and Women's Spirited Pirate Costumes

First to recommend

Description

Some people just have an incredible knack for making unbelievably creative and hysterically punny costumes. Not me. But I still love dressing up. And this year I have a hankering to get a real costume. Nothing plastic or dredged up from the bottom of my closet. This is a great start to my search. Could be the pirate's life for me . . .

Description

Perhaps it is because I have been to the Salem Witch Museum, or because I love magic, or I love pretty much every movie Sandra Bullock has ever made. But, whatever the reason, I will never tire of watching this movie . . . and delighting in the triumph of good over evil, knowledge over prejudice. (And it doesn't hurt that Halloween is involved, either.)

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

2 people recommended this item

Description

I can't believe that I almost forgot another one of our favorite movies. In early colonial America, young policeman Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is sent to the fledgling settlement of New York City to investigate a series of ghoulish murders. On his arrival, the town council informs him that the 3 victims were killed in open ground, and the heads had disappeared - taken by a headless ghost that is supposedly responsible. Ichabod is unconvinced of this, but learns more about the ghostly horseman - it is the ghost of a Hessian sent by the British during the revolutionary war, and he was caught by redcoats and decapitated with his own sword. When Ichabod sees the ghost kill one of the town council members, his skepticism evaporates - and he soon discovers that the horseman's ghost has an unholy connection to Balthus Van Tassel, a wealthy farmer - and whose daughter (Christina Ricci) Ichabod is falling in love with...

This is truly a stunning looking movie - each scenes is like a painting. If you are a Tim Burton fan, this is a must-have!

The Sixth Sense (1999)

7 people recommended this item

Description

From the moment that Cole (Haley Joel Osment) confeses "I see dead people" my skin began to crawl. That Psychiatrist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) can actually help him come to terms with what his "gift" means and what he can do with it is miraculous. Stick with it to the end. Like a haunted house, the surprises are in every nook and cranny of this movie.

Viridian Spirits: Lucid Absinthe Superieure

First to recommend

Description

Banned since the Prohibition period, absinthe is again available for mixing cocktails. "Lucid" is produced in the Loire Valley of France and the bottle's design was inspired by a Parisian cabaret, "Le Chat Noir." The bottle itself and all of the myths surrounding the consumption of absinthe make this an excellent choice for Halloween bashes and after hours events.

Bob Timberlake: Madame Druscilla by Joe Spencer

First to recommend

Description

Queen of Halloween, Druscilla may not be pretty in the conventional sense but she is definitely dressed for the occasion . . . and just menacing enough to be an excellent spook.

Description

A bottle this menacing is the perfect hostess gift for a BYOB costume party. And if you are throwing a no-holds-barred bash, you may want to stock up on a whole case to treat your guests to a uniquely American concoction.

Amazon: "Halloween: by Jerry Seinfeld, illustrated by James Bennett

First to recommend

Description

Jerry Seinfeld explains exactly why he thinks Halloween is the best game in town in his own unique, me-me-me perspective. Great fun for everyone who was or has kids. The CD of Seinfeld performing the book as a stand-up routine makes this treat extra sarcastically special.
