Description
Pretty and easy to store - a great solution to have on hand for unexpected gifts of flowers!!!
Plus, i love the gadget factor!! And it's inexpensive, as are most things at Lee Valley.
The website says:
This clever vase comes flat, as thin as a sheet of cardboard. To mold it, you just fill it with hot water and hand form it to any shape you want. You then empty the vase and refill it with cold water to freeze the shape. After use, you can re-flatten it for storage by putting it back in hot water and smoothing it flat.
Measures 11" x 6". Available in green or blue.
Makes an attractive showcase for a gift of flowers.

perfect place markers when you don't want to mar the book you are reading. Little bronze darts are useful and pretty too. Much better than a paper clip for marking your spot in a book!

Stranger Than Fiction

Description
Somewhat surprisingly, it's actually a great film. Not that Will Farrell isn't great, I just wasn't expecting it. However, it turned out to be quite the charming story and solid proof of Farrell's range.

Bird Songs
First to recommend
Description
It's the grown-up version of the talking kids' books!!!! Flip through the beautiful illustrations to find the bird you are interested in, then dial in the corresponding number to instantly hear the bird call. It's easy and fascinating. I like being able to see the bird and hear it at the same time. Very convenient for back-yard birders and enthusiasts alike.

Editorial Reviews
From Booklist
Here are splendid color illustrations of 250 species of birds, some showing only the male and others showing both the male and female. Drawing from the Macaulay Library at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the book is divided into four parts: seabirds, shorebirds, and water birds; forest birds; woodland birds; and open-country birds. With each illustration is a description of the bird's range in the U.S and Canada and its ecology and behavior. The profiles emphasize the birds' vocalizations--both songs and calls--which can be heard on an audio component that comes with the book. By using this digital audio technology, readers will be able to relate the songs and calls to the birds' appearances. Beletsky, a notable bird biologist, has written a fascinating book that will aid bird-watchers. George Cohen
Review
Bird Songs is a significant new learning device for birdwatchers. By bringing digital audio technology to the printed book, you can relate the songs and calls of those birds you see from the comfort of your armchair. This unique and informative tool, combining text, illustrations, and sounds, should be on every coffee table. - Dr Paul Green, Director of Citizen Science, National Audubon Society
