Description
Great track - empowering, politically fueled underground-ish lyrics with actual band rather than a poppy loop repeating over and over. So catchy! Already the #1 song on my favorite radio station (Grr...commercialism kills)

Probably listened to this CD about 90,000 times last summer. I am sure I will listen to it a few thousand times more this summer. In fact, I am listening to a song from this CD right now.

There Is a Moth in Your Chest: Mason Proper
First to recommend
Description
This album is AMAZING. I have to promote it, because well, the band IS from my small hometown in Northern Michigan, but aside from that they are truly a fantastic band. They have a completely unique sound, but have been compared to Modest Mouse/Weezer. Every song on the album is its own perfect little composition and different from the next. One song will have you dancing around, and the next will have you sitting still, enjoying the complex, beautiful sounds and not wanting to miss a beat. You will never want to skip a single song on this album! www.myspace.com/masonproper

Your Woman Pt.1: Tyler James
First to recommend
Description
Okay so I'm a total nerd, but I LOVE this reincarnation of the 90s one-hit wonder, "Your Woman." Remember? "Well I guess what they say is true, I could never be the right kind of girl for you, I could never be your woman"
Anyway this song is very poppy but fun. Apparently this Tyler James once dated Amy Winehouse and was touted as the "next Justin Timberlake" but it all fell through. At least we can enjoy this gem!

Ode to Bobbie Gentry: The Capitol Years

Description
I LOVE Bobbie Gentry as I'm completely enamored with the South and her hit "Ode to Billie Joe" has been capturing my imagination since I first heard it. She really does have lots of other great songs, most of which are on this album.

Gut the Van: Dispatch

Description
Dispatch is definitely one of the best jam bands (ie Sublime, Phish, Rusted Root, etc) around! This is a two-disc collection of their best songs and all of my favorites are here. This is the perfect album for relaxing in the sun on a summer day or taking a road trip in the country.

Hell's Winter: Cage

Description
This is a great, albeit dark album which I listened to over and over for months when I first got it. A great underground hip hop album and a must if you decide you'd like to try out the genre - it's a standout. Enjoy!

Mason Proper - Olly Oxen Free
First to recommend
Description
The new album from one of my very favorite bands! The beauty of Mason Proper is that their albums always seem to be one cohesive piece even though each song is definitely its own. The understanding of complex musical nuances is very apparent - the theme of each song is known to the listener even before you grasp what the lyrics are about. Although I like their previous album, There is a Moth in your Chest, just as well, there is an obvious progression in maturity, structure, and cohesiveness on this album. It is very melodic and at times, quite dark... just take a chance and buy this one! If you'd like to sample them with a few single iTunes, I'd try "In the Mirror," "Dragging the River," or "Alone." You will NOT regret picking this album up, or supporting such a talented, friendly group of guys.
