Five Guys Walk into a Bar...
First to recommend
Description
I got this for Xmas (I had been lusting after it for quite some time). Let me tell you, if you don't own this and have been on the fence about it. You seriously need it. To be it is an absolute Must Have for any Faces fan.
It's 4 discs. The really cool thing is it was put together by Ian McLagan (the keyboard player). The songs are not in a chronological order, but in an order that he felt flowed well (and it does). There is an awesome version of Maggie May (which is not one of my most favorite songs). My favorite tracks are:
Disc 1:
Too Bad
I Can Feel the Fire (Live)
Disc 2:
Pool Hall Richard,
That's All You Need,
Bad 'N' Ruin (Live),
Around The Plynth
Had Me a Real Good Time
Cut Across Shorty
Disc 3:
Hi-Heel Sneakers/Everybody Needs
Skewiff (Mend The Fuse)
Stay With Me (Live/BBC)
Ooh La La
Disc 4:
The Stealer (Live/BBC)
Love In Vain (Live/BBC)
Borstal Boys
I seriously listen to at least one track off this set every single day. It will make you happy and just want to have a good time. If I could only own one CD (since this is a box set I'm counting it as one CD), this would be it! The best money you will ever spend

Can You Dig It? The '70s Soul Experience

Description
One of my favorite box sets of all time. The music speaks for itself. Pop in any one of these cd's and your mood is sure to lift. Sly and the Family Stone, Issac Hayes, The Staple Singers, Kool & the Gang, you get the picture. Plus, how amazing is this packaging? I love the old school looking 8-track tape case.

Hanoi Rocks Box

Description
If you are in any way, shape or form a Hanoi fan you NEED to own this box set. Especially nice is the last disc, which contains solo stuff from all of the guys (the stuff by Nasty has been especially hard to find on its own so its a wonderful treat). Hanoi is/was one of my fav. bands of all time. They had the look, attitude and sound. Mike and Andy are like an updated Jagger and Richards! If you have never heard of Hanoi Rocks, get this box set and see what you are missing.

Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts from the British Empire and Beyond

Description
If you love garage rock, British rock or just good music in general, this box set is a must have. I had been lusting after it for quite awhile so I was delighted to receive this as an Xmas gift. It has many great tracks from lesser known British bands such as the Move and the Creation. It also as some tracks from the Birds (Ronnie Wood's first band) as well as Davey Jones (no, not the one from the Monkees, but from the man who would later be known as Mr. David Bowie). It also has some tracks from "garage" bands from Japan, Sweden and Mexico. This is a must have for any garage rock aficionado (or anyone that just enjoys good rockin' music)!

Music by Mavens
Updated May 14, 2008
Music by women who are true Mavens (and a few who are new on the scene and appear to be up and coming Mavens, IMO).
