About this list:
This is my eqpt. It is useful for any of my jobs as a commercial/fashion photographer. I don't think I have ever wanted or needed anything beyond this. I feel I can obviously buy more things and more toys but I don't think I need to.

I find this to be a useful Camera in any photographers arsenal. I purely feel you don't need more than this if you are shooting portraits or fashion. Most of your more important work is going to be shot with your Medium format so why do you need more than this? It shoots really great res and the usability for a portrait/fashion photographer is unmatched.

This is such an awesome camera. The pictures I have taken with this camera are simply beautiful. It's easy to operate and travel with( if you want one even easier to travel with buy the D40 ). In comparison to the D80 you will end up getting the same images in 5x7 and 8x10 formats. In truth unless you are shooting professionally you will not see the pixel advantage. And.....AND.....I just bought one for my buddy for his birthday and I bought one perfectly used from Samy's LA for $350. So buy a used one cheap and remember what it was like to take photos with your first camera.

I feel you should have a fully non mechanical all manual camera in your collection. This one is mine. It works w/o batteries and can shoot up to 1/1000 of a sec. You never know when your fancy electronic stuff won't work. Plus show people that you don't need the best stuff to still be a competent photographer.

This is one of my favorite lenses.....I have used this for everything. Especially, if I am out traveling, I love to carry this all in one lens. It really is built like a tank and has taken falls that really are shameful on my behalf. I have used it on my N90s and my digitals and on every camera it has shown me how awesome it really is. It is sharp and its clutch control really makes things easy for me.
If you are thinking of owning one lens this should be it.

Ok, I will let the cat out of the bag. This is my secret weapon for both my 35mm and digital cameras. It is such a powerhouse !!! Small, useful, sharp, light, and econmical. As a fashion photographer they allow such a cool perspective for fashion work( even my street photography looks amazing with this wide view....). On my digital, it tuns into approx. a 28mm and that is such a standard lens for any photographer. You can't find them new for Nikons anywhere but I am sure that you can still buy one new for a Canon, Pentax, and Minolta at Samy's LA. I bought mine from some guy for under $100.00 smackers ! If you are in such a need for a brand new one for Nikon.....Go and buy the Ritz version of it. They borrowed the specs. for it to create their Quantaray Brand. I have shot some really amazing images with this little lens. No wonder they call it the , " The Plastic Fantastic ". Find one and you will not regret it .

I recently bought this and I love it. It is everything that you expect from Tokina.... Sharp, sturdy, and useful. I use it as my portrait lens and my macro. At 100mm it really does this wonderful job eliminating the background and concentrating on the subject. As a Macro it is phenominal !!! Just really brilliant.

This is the best normal lens ever !!!! At 1.4 it shoots fast and clean. I can shoot in darker situations more than the normal 1.8, I have used it for everything, I do. As a Digi portrait lens, it works really well. And for my normal 35......it makes everything simply Beautiful.

Leica D-Lux 3 10MP Digital Camera

Description
I have replaced my Leica Digi for this D-Lux. It is by far smaller than the Digi( due to the lens size ) but yet still creates really stunning images. And it is only 600 bucks !!! For the quality of a Leica it is really worth it.
I love it for its :
1. Size
2. Image quality
3. Build Quality
4. and being a bit of a snob ...the Leica name
Just so you guys know....
the camera itself could be compared to the Panasonic Dmc Lx2.
both share the same electronics and the same lens but the major difference is the warranty and the final product in image results. The Leica has different parameteres than the Panasonic so images tend to look different......and in my opinion better. The difference in Warranty is that Leica will replace the item( this is coming from the Samy's in LA repair guy upstairs ). And of course the difference in body( Leica is magnesium compared to the Panasonic's Aluminum ) and the price( the Leica is obviously $150 more on avg. ).

Updated Jun 6, 2008
You can't buy good denim for under 100 dollars now... thats unfortunate. I use to buy 501's and now I can't even do that.
