I can see clearly now - a list by hanahula
Options for This Page
About this list:
Recently I have noticed a trend towards transparency and translucency in design, as though we are seeking more lightness and clarity in our lives. Or, perhaps we are more interested in seeing behind, within and beneath the objects we place within our homes: a willingness to closely examine the details of our lives. Then again, it could just be a passing trend. If this list is still here next year, we may have our answer.
Qualifications:
At the moment, just a casual observer of clarity.

Plane to See Security Bag
8 people recommended this item
Description
One of the very practical reasons transparency is becoming so much more common: safe passage through airport security. This bag is a sturdier, more green and infinitely more stylish alternative to bunches of baggies.

Cubits Shelving
First to recommend
Description
Sturdy, affordable, good-looking shelving. New and improved to accommodate bulkier items and add doors where needed. You do have to assemble the shelves yourself, but the good news about this is that you can continue adding on to your heart's content. (via Uncrate)

Miss K table lamp
8 people recommended this item
Description
Can an inanimate object be sexy ? Well, if not, this Miss K lamp by Phillipe Starck does a fair imitation of a seductress. The all-black beauty is perfect for the beside table in your boudoir. The sleek, silver version would look particularly sharp on your desk. And if you cannot find room in either one of those locations, you can opt for the pendant style. (via Design Within Reach)

Kithaus K3 (2005)

Much like it sounds, the Kithaus is a prefab kit that emerges to become a 9' X 13' space fully equipped with wiring and insulation. Where you put it and how you use it is entirely up to you.

Crate&Barrel: Catalonia Vase
First to recommend
Description
An over-sized vase perfect for tropical flowers such as the bird-of- paradise, or clippings of dogwood, pussy willows or palm fronds. The shape itself is so intriguing you may also be inspired to leave it empty, grouping them in twos or threes on as a centerpiece

Nubrella
4 people recommended this item
Description
This umbrella may make you feel like you are living on your own planet, but it seems guaranteed to keep you dry even in a gusty downpour. It also collapses into an unobtrusive shape. My question is: can you put it up and on in a hurry ?

The clear resin cuff will give the illusion that this starfish is just floating on your wrist, like a friend you found on the beach. Even if you have no vacations days left and you are nowhere near salt water, you will find solace in this twinkling starfish.

Description
A lamp so subtle it almost melts right into its surroundings, yet so striking that it cannot be missed. The bird appears to be perched in mid-air, a marvelous trompe l'oeil detail.
