Toyota 4Runner

3 people recommended this item

Description

Ah yes, the SUV. Such the scourge of environmentalists nowadays. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. If you snowboard a lot and like to sleep in the parking lot during storms this is the vehicle for you. The 4WD will get you there the morning after the storm if you don't mind avoiding the gapers on highway 50 (take 88, not quite as many gapers). If you are a carpenter this will fit most of your tools and the occasional load of demo debris, although you will sometimes want a larger vehicle. Don't get the Sport or Limited, just a waste of money, the SR5 is fine. The gas mileage is not that bad if you don't drive with a lead foot - ok I'm getting a little apologistic here. Here's the bottom line - Toyota is rock solid reliable.

Delta JT160 Shopmaster Benchtop Jointer

First to recommend

Description

I really want a jointer, and although this model has some big brothers that I'd like even more, this particular model is portable, and I could probably find a place for it in the basement, which might not be the case for the larger models.

All in One Clamp Clamp Guide w/T-track

First to recommend

Description

I've been clamping my straightedge level to plywood to make straight cuts for far too long, this looks like the proper tool for the job.

BOSCH RA1181 Benchtop Router Table

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

This looks like a nice sturdy router table. It's made to be benchtop, but looks like it could work at a job site if you mounted it on some sawhorses with a couple of 2x4s.

Porter-Cable 4212 12-Inch Deluxe Dovetail Jig

First to recommend

Description

Here's another spendy accessory, but one I'd like to get some day. This jig allows you to do precision dovetail joints that are essential to doing high end carpentry like furniture and cabinet making.

Porter-Cable Variable Speed Router Kit

First to recommend

Description

This kit is great for people who need both a fixed base and plunge router, but don't want to buy both. It's also reasonably lightweight for the power it puts out, and it comes in a great case.

Bosch Circular Saw with Direct Connect

First to recommend

Description

Mine is an older version of this saw without the Direct Connect power cord, but it is still one of my favorite tools. Incredibly powerful (and henceforth incredibly dangerous) this saw can cut through virtually anything. Set up with a straightedge for a guide, it can actually be used for some finish work. An absolute essential for most carpenters, this saw can be used on almost every job.

Bench Dog Table Extension for a Table Saw

First to recommend

Description

What a clever concept! Although I'm not sure this would attach to my table saw, I love the idea of being able to attach my router to my table saw and not have to have another whole table-sized power tool to cart around. Even if I had a workshop it would still be nice to minimize the space taken up by tools.

Milwaukee Right Angle Drill with D-Handle

First to recommend

Description

This right angle drill will drill holes through studs and joists all day long for running wiring and plumbing. It's also great for stirring thinset and grout, which may not seem like very noble work for a fine drill like this one, but it is work that will quickly burn out the motor in almost any lesser drill

Freud Dado Set Arbor

First to recommend

Description

This dado blade set is a bit of an investment but if you've ever used a table saw to cut a dado one blade width at a time, you'll understand the value.
