A friend gave me Nora Ephron's latest book, "I Feel Bad About My Neck and Other Thoughts on Being a Woman" for Christmas. Loved it. It's poignant, funny and very insightful for those of us dealing with getting older.

The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook

4 people recommended this item

Description

From the website: "This handy and informative how-to is based on consultations with experts in a variety of fields such as stunt-car driving, alligator wrestling, and medicine. It tells you how to survive, escape from, or otherwise deal with extreme, unforeseen situations that are often life-threatening--such as how to fend off a shark attack or what to do when your parachute fails to open. Some are more likely to occur, such as how to deal with a downed power line or how to deliver a baby in a taxicab. Highly entertaining and practical."

The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It for Life

First to recommend

Description

A while back, I read The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp. At first, I wondered what it had to do with me since she is one the leading choreographers of our time and I am about as far away from a dancer as I can be. But the book, as it turns out, is more about tapping into your creativity than it is about dancing. It doesn't matter if you are a painter, musician, businessperson, or simply a someone who wants to put their creativity to use, The Creative Habit offers 32 practical exercises, along with Twyla's insightful wisdom, to get the creative juices flowing!

Artists' Houses

First to recommend

Description

A closeup look at some of the world's most famous artists from Claude Monet to Giorgio de Chirico. It's very interesting to see where and how they lived. I am amazed that most of the houses look like mansions. The photography is beautiful.
