Burning Man Must Haves. Trust Me. - a list by Yournewbestfriend

About this list:

I went to Burning Man for my first time this year (2008) and it was an amazing week. I laughed, I cried, I drank, and I kept a running checklist of all of the things I absolutely MUST HAVE for next year. Which I really can't wait for. Anywho, heed my advice and make sure you have these things. Your playa experience will be super no matter what, but these things will make it comfortable, too.

I'm not a virgin anymore!

Organic Belle Baby Carrier

First to recommend

Description

This is great for camping, hiking, or just walking to the park. It is made from organic hemp and cotton so it's eco-friendly, too! Your baby can face away from you or towards you, and it is fully adjustable for baby's growing heights, It places the weight of the baby onto your hips instead of your back, and even allows for discrete nursing. Such a great gift!

Northpole 30-foot Party Tent

First to recommend

Description

This tent holds up to 25 people! Can you say Burningman party? The tent measures 30'x30' and is 12.5' tall in the middle. Easy to set up and has mesh panels and doors on all sides to protect from bugs. Too bad the mesh won't keep the dust out - but at least it'll be shady underneath!

Flight Spray - Travel Nasal Spray

2 people recommended this item

Description

This all natural and alcohol free nasal spray is perfect to keep your nose hydrated through hours of dryer than dry airplane air. This would work well at Burning Man, too! It moisturizes and soothes, all in a TSA compliant size. Small and compact for travel.

Portable Mesh Hammock

First to recommend

Description

This portable hammock sets up in seconds with no tools required! No more looking for the perfect pair of trees to tie a hammock up in between (as if I have ever done that), this hammock has everything you need all wrapped up in a tidy carrying case. The frame is made from steel, folds up and sets up easily, and provides you with summer relaxation wherever you go. I would love this for camping and Burning Man.

Portable Squishy Bowl Set

2 people recommended this item

Description

The perfect answer to my camping dilemmas of wasting cups and dirtying bowls. This portable bowl and cup set comes with one 16 oz bowl and one 6 oz cup. They can be squished for travel (into your backpack or briefcase) and the quickly pop back into shape. And the best part is to clean them, just pop them inside out and "lick them clean" or rinse them off. Did I mention they fit inside eachother, too? And they're dishwasher/microwave safe and are heat resistant up to 400 degrees. Wowza.

Jetboil Personal Cooking System

9 people recommended this item

Description

This is so cool! It boils 2 cups of water in 2 minutes thanks to its revolutionary heat capture system, meaning less heat is lost to that clear ambient air. And, the entire thing packs up into the water boiling cup so it is smaller than a Nalgene bottle and weighs only 15 oz. Super portable for your pack. Great for making pastas, soups, and coffee (there is even a coffee press accessory you can buy). A great camping accessory.

Dancing Spoon: Portable French Press

3 people recommended this item

Description

These are great. They can be used for french press coffee or loose leaf tea on the go. Once I went french press, I cant go back, but it stinks having to wait for it to brew and such if I need to be somewhere. This is a great solution. It would also be good for camping or Burning Man, but it's only big enough for one cup so if you have thirsty campmates you'll need something bigger!

REI Roll Up Camping Table

First to recommend

Description

Um. Could there be a better table for Burning Man or camping in general? This table rolls up into a tiny little portable compact bundle of love. You need tables for Burningman to cook on, eat on, and hang out around. I'd recommend at least 2 of these.

Baked Enamelware Coffee Pot

Description

This 2 quart coffeepot is perfect for camping and Burning Man. There's something about camping that makes me love coffee. Has a built in aluminum coffee basket so no need for coffee filters. Me on a caffeine high = much more fun for burning man.

Recycle Bags

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

These are good for Burning Man because sorting recylables is necessary if you want to drop them off (and free up some space in your car) in Reno on the way home. They have to be sorted or it will all go into the trash. These are collapsible, so they don't take up much space in the car. And for your non-recycling savvy friends, it makes it much easier. You can take the role of emptying into their proper bags when necessary.
