Burning Man Must Haves. Trust Me. - a list by Yournewbestfriend
Options for This Page
About this list:
I went to Burning Man for my first time this year (2008) and it was an amazing week. I laughed, I cried, I drank, and I kept a running checklist of all of the things I absolutely MUST HAVE for next year. Which I really can't wait for. Anywho, heed my advice and make sure you have these things. Your playa experience will be super no matter what, but these things will make it comfortable, too.

Biodegradable Baby Wipes
3 people recommended this item
Description
Baby wipes were a commodity this year at my camp. We came with 80, and were done by Day 4. After walking around all day, nothing feels better than a faux shower with baby wipes. They're also great for cleaning playa off of your feet while resting. These are extra good because they are biodegradeable, come in 100% compostable packaging, are 100% chlorine and fragrance free, 100% natural, and contain soothing aloe.
Do yourself a favor and bring at least 160 for you and your friends to share!

Pollution and Smog Mask
3 people recommended this item
Description
How anyone survives a week on the playa without a dust mask is beyond me. Once the wind kicks up, the dust starts flying. My fellow campers told me dust masks were unnecessary and wore only bandanas - but those were subpar for me. I definitely enjoyed having a dust mask once a friendly fellow gifted one to me.
This mask is specifically designed with HEPA like filters to keep your lungs free of fine dust particles. Super comfy and super effective. Once you have this, some goggles, and some nasal spray - you can take on the playa mano y mano.

Sun, Dust & Wind Goggles
First to recommend
Description
These are great for Burning Man because they have changeable lenses. Which means even when the dust continues into the evening (gripes), you can still wear your goggles AND see! I had to take mine off at dusk because I felt blind, but then I was blinded by playa dust anywho.
A definite must have. Please bring some. That way even if there are dust storms all day you can still play!

Saline Moisturizing Nasal Spray
2 people recommended this item
Description
This year at Burningman, I laughed, I cried, and I craved saline nasal spray. The playa boogers are far from fun - and who wants to breathe in all that playa dust anyways? Saline nasal spray is an absolute MUST HAVE. Buy ten, and give them out to your friends (old or new). They'll thank you.
