Sunday Suppers at Lucques: Seasonal Recipes from Market to Table

Description
I was fortunate to have Suzanne Goin sign my copy at the 3rd St. Farmer's market when the book first came out a few years back. This is a great cook book in the style of Lucques cuisine - fresh mediteranean. My wife has made numerous recepes, the Almond Cake is a house favorite.

Vita-Mix blender
6 people recommended this item
Description
My wife told me she wanted a Vitamix. I said sure and went to seek it out. I learned that you can only buy them direct and it was $399. I said it must be one hell of a blender.
Well it is. It is an industrial strength, super high speed blender that will make anything you want. It will grind whole fruits and vegetables in a an instant. We are using it to make fruit drinks and smoothies in the hopes of being healthy. You can also make sauces, soups, bread dough, and even chicken spread. I was skeptical of the price, but it is worth it.
They sell them twice a year at Costco for $369 if you are patient. Also, you can search the web for free shipping codes for direct order from Vitamix.

Robert Sinskey Vineyards
First to recommend
Description
I drink a lot of wine, I mean A LOT. A friend of mine gave me a bottle of 2001 Robert Sinskey Vandal Vineyard Pinot Noir and I stashed it away not thinking much of it. For some reason, I didn't have a high opinion of Robert Sinskey Vineyards (RSV), not that I ever had any of their wines. As I read the label, I learned that RSV is an organic wine made via sustainable agricultural practices. So I went to their site and learned about the committment to sustainable farming and that it is one of the few certified organic wines. If you know wine, you will know there are very few organic wines.
Vandal Vineyards is one of six organic vineyards at RSV. The wine is a cool climate Pinot made from the Pommard Clone. The 2001 I had is very Burgundian in style. It is medium ruby red in color. Dark cherry fruits on the palate, very clean, good minerality and earth. A very balanced Pinot, not what you would expect from Napa. Oh and it is organic. It ain't cheap, but it is very well made. Go give it a try.

Sustainably farmed vineyards packaged in the eco-friendly Tetra pack. Not sure if the wine is any good, but it is sure sexy looking. I bet the hipster kids will like this for their parties. I think you will see more innovation in wine packaging coming soon. (via Notcot)
