The Drowsy Chaperone

Description
I just saw this musical and I had a blast watching and enjoying it. I'm hoping they'll release a recording with Jonathan Crombie as Man in Chair because he did so well in the role. Without giving too much away, the story has a unique storytelling point, comedy wrapped up in comedy wrapped up in more comedy (in other words, be prepared to laugh), and a warm, lovable cast. Definitely going up there as one of my favorites.

The Phantom of the Opera CD

Description
When I was a kid, my mom and godmother took me to see this musical for a special treat. If I remember correctly, it was also one of my first introductions to musicals. I enjoy musicals as they combine so many unique and creative elements to create a terrific world that takes you away from reality. The Phantom of the Opera is a terrificly haunting story that was adapted very well by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Cats CD

Description
Many people have an intense aversion to Cats (the musical, not the animals...although some people don't like cats as well), but I don't. Although you can't see it on Broadway anymore, it's a terrific musical. The dancing, the transformation of humans to cats (via makeup and costumes), and the music take you away to another world. Made me purrr with delight (sorry, i had to).

I was lucky enough to see the original Broadway cast perform this in New York on...Broadway! It's a throughly entertaining musical and I'm so glad I got to see it. The costumes are amazing as is the story.

This show is a terrific adaptation on the book (and a little simpler to get through than the book). The music as well carries the show - in particular, my favorite "Defy Gravity" ;)

Mamma Mia the musical was the first time I had heard ABBA music. It was a terrific introduction into the world of ABBA and the story developed around the songs is both funny and touching. I'm itching to see the movie as well.

A true classic no matter what. With Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews, this cd is terrific. Both embody their characters so well and Julie Andrews' voice is one of the best. I just saw it come through L.A. about a month ago and despite no Julie Andrews it's still a wonderful musical to see.

This movie musical is so entertaining and the songs are pretty much a staple nowadays Gwen Stefani often cites this as her favorite movie and used aspects of it on her last cd (The Sweet Escape), especially in the song 'Wind It Up.' I could watch this over and over again.

I may have seen the Disney version first, but this version is equally, if not more stunning. One of my favorite things about stage musicals are costume and scenery because a truly inventive mind to create such mobile yet stunning surroundings. And thanks to the adorable characters, it's hard to choose a favorite costume.
