Jardinière Restaurant - San Francisco

First to recommend

Description

During the nearly ten years that I lived in San Francisco, I ate at a lot of very nice restaurants. As my friends know, my culinary tastes range from In-n-Out Burger to Providence (L.A.). But, my favorite restaurant in San Francisco was and still is Jardinière.

The chef/owner Traci Des Jardins is a James Beard award winner and her French inspired California cuisine is hard to describe with words. The setting of the restaurant is wonderful and lends itself equally well for a business dinner, a get-together with friends, or a romantic special occasion. More important, I've never eaten there when Traci didn't send out a nice Amuse Bouche with her compliments to start the culinary adventure. If you live in SF or are headed there in the near future, do yourself a favor and make reservations at Jardinière. Enjoy! (via Jardiniere)

Rosenblum, 2005, Rockpile Road, Zinfandel

First to recommend

Description

I'm a Zin fan. Always have been, always will be. I'm also a big fan of Rosenblum Zins. The bouquet of Rosenblum's 2005 Rockpile Road Zinfandel shows rich black cherry and black currant with hints of vanilla and black pepper. The flavors are ripe black cherry, currant and creamy spice with notes of dark chocolate.

This is a tough bottle to find, but worth it!

Starbucks Concord Tumbler

First to recommend

Description

I'm lucky, in that I don't have much of a commute. But, I drink a lot of Starbucks, so I bought one of these tumblers to do a little toward saving the world's trees. It's virtually indestructible and it keeps my coffee really warm. Go ahead - buy a tumbler and save a tree!

You Bar - Custom Made Nutrition Bars

First to recommend

Description

Back in the day, a lot of investors were getting excited about a concept called, Mass Customization. In some ways, Starbucks delivered, but few others have pulled it off. Now, You Bar is giving us the ability to make a custom nutrition bar. So, I can dream up my own formulation and they will make my bar for me. This is so cool.

Like Reggie Jackson back in the 70s. Now, we can all have our own nutrition bars with You Bar.

Very cool!

nambé Bread Tray

First to recommend

Description

The nambé Bread Tray is a very nice addition to any kitchen. In general, nambé's products last forever and they look great for as long as you own them. They are also usually designed with a dual purpose - virtually every nambé product can be used in an oven and go straight to the dinner table.

In this case, just slice your bread on your cutting board, warm the bread and tray in your oven, and serve wrapped in a cloth napkin for flair and extra heat retention.

Rub-Away Stainless Steel Bar

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

If you like to cook, then you have to deal with getting onion or garlic smells on your hands from time to time. I had always heard that rubbing your hands with stainless steel would remove the smell. But, rubbing a typical stainless steel kitchen utensil isn't very practical. Then, I found the Rub-Away Bar by Amco Houseworks. It's shaped like a bar of soap and is perfect for odor removal. Rubbing the bar under warm water removes any odor from your hands. Use after working with onions, fish or garlic and leave the odor with the food, not on your hands!

Description

I don't fly with wine very often (this bag was developed for flying with wine), but I have been known to have a picnic in the middle of a nice hike. With the BottleWise Wine Bag, you can relax knowing that your wine will be safe and secure as you trudge along over hill and dale. A great gift for the wine lover among your friends or in your family. Why didn't I think of this product??

Eva Solo Bread Bin

First to recommend

Description

Fresh bread is one of life's unsung pleasures! When I didn't know any better, I used to keep my bread in the refrigerator. Then, I learned that putting it in the frig is the fastest way to make bread go stale. It has something to do with the fibers of the bread. Anyway, freezing bread is just fine and doesn't ruin it. So, I freeze it and then store it in my bread bin. The bin keeps it fresh for a surprisingly long time. I just love my Eva Solo Bread Bin. I can't believe I ate stale bread for years.

Rosle Boston Shaker

First to recommend

Description

This martini shaker will make you look cooler than James Bond when you're making that Vodka martini shaken and not stirred. Okay, I admit that was a little corny. But, seriously the Rosle Boston Shaker is well made, has a heavy glass tumbler, and a heavy 18/10 stainless steel cup.
