In desperate need of a LARGE but stylish but affordable bookcase, I opted for this beauty several months ago, and I'm thrilled with it. The casters lock, so you don't have to worry about it rolling around. Excellent storage capacity with a nice dark finish. It's a dramatic piece that will have people talking as soon as they see it.

I've heard rave reviews about Rosetta Stone's language programs. I have an innate knack for picking up languages and I want to learn Russian properly but can't afford classes, nor do I have the time. There is not a ton of stuff out there to teach you Icelandic, but this book with accompanying CD is excellent. Let's face it, only a few hundred thousand people in the world speak Icelandic, so your local bookstore is not teeming with books to learn it, like with Spanish, French or Italian. No matter, this is an invaluable book if you're planning a trip to Iceland (it helped me get by, especially while in more inland areas), or if you want to learn the basics of a beautiful langauge that will certainly impress people at parties :) (via amazon.com)

I've handled this camera and also have seen it in action, and it's incredible. The viewfinder is a fantastic touch and it's detachable, which is great. It's a point and shoot as well as an SLR, so you can have complete control, with a good sharp lens. A fantastic camera.

Red Horseshoe makes some very cool gifty things; my favorite is the Red Book. On the front it says Russian Notebook in Cyrillic. On the back there is ) Roman to Cyrillic alphabet decoder. The prononciation descriptions are not exact, but no matter! This is a well-designed little notebook, and they have a ton of others to choose from, including larger 5x7 notebooks.
