Extraordinary Deviation from the Mean - a list by hanahula
Options for This Page
About this list:
If you cannot take time off from work this summer, take a vacation from one or two of your habitual modes of being. If you always go conservative, try something a little more colorful in your wardrobe. If you always use email, try writing a letter. If you always watch independent films, try going to a blockbuster. If you always read non-fiction, venture over to the mystery or science fiction aisle in the bookstore or your local library. You get the idea. Deviate to rejuvenate.
Qualifications:
I will be taking my own advice. (Ask me how, if interested)

Speed Racer Cartoon DVD
First to recommend
Description
I was lucky enough to catch re-runs of Speed Racer on television when I was little. I clearly remember shouting "Go, Speed Racer, Go!" at the top of my lungs, as if Speed could really hear me. He was much more fun than Batman (and dressed better too). Now you can own the original series on DVD (along with some other goodies that are packaged alongside it.) If you can't travel in real time, travel back in time with some fabulous Japanimation.

Bas Bleu: Summer - A User's Guide by Suzanne Brown
First to recommend
Description
At least in the Northern Hemisphere, it is officially summer. And there are so many good things to do, to eat, to try during this all-too-short season. This book provides plentiful inspiration and instruction for making a sarong, attracting hummingbirds, identifying constellations and building sand castles. No matter where you find yourself this summer (city, country, beach, or mountains), you will find something new to do or a reminder of how to do something you once did as a child. For the little kid inside all of us big kids.
