Luke Chueh vs. Monkey Deck

Description
While I won't claim to have found this wonderful little piece of skateboard art (NOTCOT had it posted to her site), I am truly awe struck that artist have taken skateboard decks as an art medium. The "Luke Chueh vs. Monkey" deck combines two of my passions, art and skateboarding.

MEAR
First to recommend
Description
Mear is not only a graffiti artist, but one that has continually made strides towards raising the social consciousness of those around him through art.
I first learned about Mear as a young punk running through the back alleys off of Melrose with crayons in my backpack. For those that don't think graffiti is a valid art style... I truly wish I could take you back to the days of strolling the back alleys of Melrose and some of the other spots in Los Angeles. The illustrations combined with graffiti were absolutely mind blowing.
Please don't confuse "tagging" or "writing" with graffiti or a "piece". I could populate my art list with several graffiti artists I have come to admire, yet I will leave only Mear as I believe he has developed into a more well rounded artist than most others.

Roy Lichtenstein

Description
I had known of Lichtenstein for some time but never truly appreciated his art. That is until a friend of mine took me to the Lichtenstein exhibit in San Francisco. For an artist to posses the ability that evokes emotions from their paintings is truly amazing. Several of his pieces are very grand in scale and to see the amount of work that went into those pieces is inspiring.
My girlfriend owns a print of one of Lichtenstein's pieces and she purchased it because she related to the piece in regards of the emotion and feeling that is being presented.
Lichtenstein isn't considered "fine art" but I feel it is definitely art that is to be appreciated and shared.

Georgia O'Keeffe
First to recommend
Description
I personally was never big on paintings of nature or landscapes. A friend of mine admired O'Keeffe for a very long time and we went to see an exhibit containing several of her pieces and I was actually intrigued. My favorite paintings are those of the Petunias, Irises and Tulips.
The flow of O'Keeffe's brush gives the images a very soft and delicate look. The paintings are very peaceful and calming.

Description
While I was majoring in Art (My father just loved that), I was introduced to every recognized art period and style. Jackson Pollock became my favorite abstract expressionist artist. "Number 18" is one of my top five art pieces. Most of Pollock's pieces are absolutely mad, yet at the same time contain a sense of calmness.

The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss

Description
We all know Green Eggs and Ham and other Dr. Seuss favorites, yet not too many people know about Seuss' paintings, drawings and sculptures. The man was very creative and had the imagination of a million children combined.

Justin Bua
First to recommend
Description
I came across Justin Bua at a Blackalicious show in Los Angeles and immediately fell in love with his style of art. Bua has a very Urban and realistic feel to his art. I have added a few images of the pieces that I admire. For myself, Bua does not fall into the "Low Brow" style of art and I still have not been able to describe it as anything but "Urban".
I personally have The Piano Man II (Autographed) and Smokers Limited Edition (100/1000 Autographed). I used to have The Block, but parted with so I could get out the hell out of dodge (long story, that involves nothing illegal).
If you are looking for something a little different to hang on your walls, then give Bua a look.
