Ironclad Women's Garden-Work Gloves

3 people recommended this item

Description

Seems like an odd and impersonal gift, doesn't it? Au contraire. If you know serious gardeners, you know they can never have enough gloves, and in different weight. Great garden gloves can turn a pleasant garden project into an unpleasant garden task. Trust me. She will love them. $16

Envirocycle Backyard Composter, Green

2 people recommended this item

Description

Recycle ALL non-meat scraps, even cooked, even pasta, with this type of composter. Keeps critters out, and turns your leftovers into rich dirt in 2 weeks. Although I have a compost pile, I'd really like one of these as well for quick turnaround.

edible flower garden

2 people recommended this item

Description

Edible flowers are a great way to dress up a salad. For crystallized flowers: Try mixing up 1/3 of an egg white and 1/3 cup sugar. Beat the egg in a bowl, and spread the sugar on a cookie sheet. Line another cookie sheet with plastic wrap. Dip a flower in the egg white, run your finger lightly over both sides to remove most of the white. The petals should be wet but not heavily coated. Lay each flower in the sugar and sprinkle some more sugar on top. Press firmly so the sugar covers the surface totally and adheres.
Transfer the coated flowers to the cookie sheet lined with plastic, and set them aside to dry at room temperature. When the sugar has dried and crystallized, store the flowers at room temperature in a container with a tight lid. They'll keep for up to a week.
