According to the experts the average gamer is a 33 year old male.
I am 33 and I consider myself an average video gamer.
But the one thing that the industry is trying to crack is getting women and older folk to play.
I recently witnessed the signs of the second coming of gaming. A 35 year old female playing a PSP game and having a blast.
What game was it? You might ask.
Well read the list.

The answer the my question is LocoRoco. Yes a 35 year old female who has seldom if never picked up a controller to play a video game loved this game.
Why?
Here is why:
- Controls, the basic movement is controled by the L and R index buttons. You move through the world in a fluid intuitive roll.
- Visual language. The vibe is very friendly and "cute". Not blood or aggression.
- Characters. The main character is endearing and sings.
You have to see the game to understand.
I believe its the first in a new breed of game that will appeal ot a much broader audience.

All I have to say is:
Ms. Pac-Man, Mappy, Pole Position, Xevious, Galaga
for $19.99
If that is not nostalgia, I don't know what is. Come on! Galaga!

My dad used to lock our Coleco in his office. To control how much we played.
needless to say we (my brothers and friends) became master locksmiths.
We would spend afternoons afterschool huddled in a smalle 8x5 office playing Zaxxon and Donkey Kong.
We made my little brother stand watch.
I am happy to say that the life of crime did not continue.

To use a cliche, small things come in good packages. Or something like that.
Having 700+ titles in your pocket and still being able to fit a snickers bar, your keys and a pack of gum is no small feat.
Being able to stick to the classics like super mario bros brings back some great memories.
Again, if you are stuck at the DMV, Church, Doctors office, um traffic.. in your carpool, what better way to say, "Hey I am old, still a geek and proud!"

If you are a busy, on the go person who loves to play video games, how often do you get time to sit down and play a video game?
Not very often is the answer. If there was a way you could take a decent console with you everywhere you go... and maybe you can enjoy 45 minutes to an hour of game play. On a plane, or waiting for an appointment...
Hm.
Games like LocoRoco are making the idea of "casual gaming" come to life. If you have not seen that game, you must!
Now! Leave your house, or office and go get it. Or fire-up your web browser and order it online. Don't have a PSP. Order one too!

This is the 2nd sign of the second coming of gaming. Why?
Here is a list:
- Non-gamers (read: women and older folk) have always complained that the controls for video games are too complicated. How complicated can waving your hands be?
- Well I think that was the only point on the list.
