Akris Silk Mesh Blouse & Tulip Skirt

Description

Tulips are the very harbinger of spring. Poking out of the snow, there is something so hopeful about tulips. That's why I love it when the tulip skirts come out. They let you bring a little bit of hope and spring to just about everywhere you go. And this black knee length tulip skirt feels like it can go just about everywhere. It's a subtle tulip shape, so it doesn't make your hips look huge as some bulbous skirts.

Tulips! This tulip skirt surprises me so nicely, as it actually keeps the rest of the tulip shape. I could see this in the office, it's professional without being staid. I like how it hits just at the knee which gives you plenty of discretion and always you to pair with so much. I know I'd love to see it on casual friday with a nice striped button up shirt.

After I graduated from undergraduate school I spent some time in Scotland. The tartan plaid on this tulip skirt reminds me of isles we went to. The plaid makes me feel like I should be there again, traipsing about the green country side. This skirt will be perfect for fall when plaids are always in. It's knee length, and while I wouldn't pair it with the grey sweater in the picture...I'm seeing it with a nice grey turtleneck or perhaps a nice starched button up shirt.

As crazy as fashion may occasionally seem there is a certain poetry to seeing the runway translated into ready to wear. And this tulip skirt is certainly about as paired down of a version of the tulip as you will see. Never the less, it's a great skirt. It's professional, knee length, and a glorious grey. I think it would be charming in the spring and yet would transition easily throughout the seasons.

I'm not a big mini anything fan. No minidresses (unless over leggings), no mini shorts and no mini skirts. Except, in the summer...it gets so hot. And so come summer I like a mini skirt with flip flops and a strappy tank top or summer weight sweater. This red and cream tulip miniskirt screams to be let out to play for summer.

This skirt reminds me of something Blair from GossipGirl would wear. It's grey, and belted and looks like it would be appropriate with heels and a skirt and sweater vest. It's prim and yet the tulip shaping on it evokes thoughts of something not so prim. All in all it's a perfect addition for your fall wardrobe.

What's the one rule everyone learn as soon as they start paying attention to fashion? I'd have to vote for "no white before memorial day or after labor day". I know that there are some winter whites and all, but in general I tend to stick to it (better to be safe eh?). This creamy white tulip skirt looks just like I'd imagine a tulip to if you put in on. It's relaxed, it's casual and it's perfect for spring and summer (after memorial day of course. ;-) ).
