Plain White T's: Every Second Counts

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Plain White T's have been around for quite some time now but they only became popular within the last year when "Hey There Delilah" became insanely popular and "Our Time Now" was used as the theme song for ABC Family's Greek. Every Second Count is a really great mellow CD, almost soft rock. When it seems like everybody else is adding as much bass and electric guitar as possible to their slowest ballad, Plain White T's keep it simple with an acoustic arrangement and beautiful lyrics that are a win.

Boys Like Girls

Description

I bought Boys Like Girls purely because "The Great Escape" is one of my favorite songs. It makes me feel so good all-over, but the CD is full of equally great songs like "Hero/Heroine" and my other favorite song "Heels Over Head".

The Higher: On Fire

First to recommend

Description

The Higher is another one of those bands that I stumbled upon on the clearance rack and decided to give it a chance. Again, I was pleasantly surprised and it's become of those albums that I can listen to all the way through and listen to on repeat often! My favorites are "Insurance", "Historionics", and "Pace Yourself (Patrick Stump Remix)".

The Kooks: Konk

Description

I honestly can't stop listening to this CD! "Konk" is the sophomore release from British alternative/punk band The Kooks. Luke, lead singer, has a very distinct voice even outside of his wonderful British accent. There are great songs here too on the whole album but my personal favorites are "Love It All" and "Always Where I Need To Be".

Description

I discovered Kate Voegele after a guest appearance that she'd done on CW's One Tree Hill. I was blown away by her voice and went out to buy her debut album immediately. She's a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist. She is incredibly talented. My favorite tracks off this album are "No Good", "The Devil In Me", and her acoustic remixes.

Description

Cute Is What We Aim For are one of my favorite punk rock bands right now. I especially love "Newport Living" which takes a stab at high school cliques and mean girls. I also recommend the popular "The Curse of Curves".

Abominations: Schoolyard Heroes

Description

Schoolyard Heroes are hardcore rockers with aggressive lyrics that have stirred up quite a bit of controversy in the past. If that's your style, you will definitely enjoy Abominations dark, heavy beats and lyrics.

Aliens & Rainbows: Ferras

First to recommend

Description

You might recognize Ferras' song "Hollywood's Not America" as the 'goodbye song' from the elimination rounds on American Idol. The young, soulful singer, pianist, and lyricist is extremely talented and you will fall in love with this CD. I recommend "Hollywood's Not America" and the title track "Aliens & Rainbows" for first listen.

So Uncool: Keke Palmer

First to recommend

Description

I love this CD! Keke Palmer is a beautiful, talented actress as we all know from Akeelah and the Bee, but she's also a very talented singer as well. Although some of the lyrics may seem very Disney friendly (she is only 14 after all) she has a lot of soul and also some very personal moments. The album if full of great beats, dance tunes, and a few ballads. My personal favorites are "Rainbows" and the party anthem "Bottoms Up".
