Phantom Planet: Raise The Dead

First to recommend

Description

Raise the Dead is the first release on the Fueled By Ramen label from the band you probably know best for The O.C.'s theme song "California". Raise the Dead is a strong CD with a lot of good tracks including the lead single, "Do The Panic" but my favorite song is "Leader".

Doug Does Decaydance

First to recommend

Description

This album features jazz arrangements of songs from each of the Decaydance label's artists (Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is..., Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, etc.) complete with horns, drums, bass, piano, and Doug’s own guitar and vocals. A great gift for the scene kids to give your parents so they won't totally hate your music style.

Drake - Comeback Season

Description

You might recognize Drake as Jimmy from The N's "Degrassi: The Next Generation" but don't let that knowledge detour you from checking out his music. Drake is a very talented artist with refreshing lyrics deviating from mainstream rap. He talks about life, love, fame, rap, and respect while still respecting himself.

GAVIN DeGRAW - Chariot

2 people recommended this item

Description

I was introduced to Gavin DeGraw through "One Tree Hill" because they used "I Don't Wanna Be" in all the promos, and even to this day I still watch that show mainly because of that song. The entire album is amazing though and Gavin DeGraw is a true artist--vocalist, instrumentalist, and lyricist. In addition to "I Don't Wanna Be", you will love the beautiful ballad "More Than Anyone".

From Under the Cork Tree: Fall Out Boy

2 people recommended this item

Description

From Under the Cork Tree helped launch Fall Out Boy into international superstars, but it is definitely one of their best albums. It had the mega MTV hits "Dance, Dance" and "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'" but there are also songs that lyricist/bassist Pete Wentz writes dealing with his suicide attempt ("7 Minutes In Heaven") and other songs about life. They keep it humorous with song titles such as "I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me". If you like punk rock or Fall Out Boy, I definitely recommend picking up this album.

While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets: Cobra Starship

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

The first time I heard any of these songs were when I saw Cobra Starship perform live and I immediately ran out to the merch booth to buy the CD. This is feel good, dance music at its best. Who doesn't love the hugely popular "Bring It (Snakes On A Plane)" from the movie?

¡Viva la Cobra!: Cobra Starship

First to recommend

4 people recommended this item

Description

Cobra Starship is so refreshing in a scene where everyone takes themselves too seriously. The band, who's frontman is Gabe Saporta from Midtown fame, is all about making catchy power pop punk dance music and having fun while everyone else is standing up against the wall. I definitely recommend this album for anyone that just wants to have a good time and feel good. The tracks to keep an ear open for are "Kiss My Sass", "Smile For the Paparazzi", and the single and appropriately titled, "Guilty Pleasure".

Metro Station are another one of my favorite new power punk bands. Their debut CD is really fun and upbeat. My favorite song off the album is the single, "Shake It" but I also recommend "Control".

Whisper War: The Cab

Description

If you are a fan of power punk then you should definitely check out The Cab, a band out of Las Vegas. This is their very first album but you would never know it by the quality of their music. These boys are just amazing! I recommend "One Of Those Nights" f/ Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy and Brendan Urie from Panic at the Disco and "High Hopes In Velvet Ropes". Their sound is very eclectic and all over the place, but if you like Maroon 5 for instance you will love these guys.

Smile for Them: Armor for Sleep

First to recommend

Description

I love this album! I had never heard of this band when I picked them up, but I decided to take a chance and I wasn't disappointed at all. It's mostly very uptempo punk rock. I fell in love with "Smile For The Camera", a song about the perils of fame. I also recommend "Williamsburg".
