Description
I saw this a while ago, but since I've moved into a loft, I've been looking for a way to separate the space around when we have some guests. So far this seems like the best, if pricey solutions.
Designed by Stephanie Forsythe & Todd MacAllen of MOLO, the softwall is made using the same principles as these red chinese lanterns. 400 layers of a durable plastified paper, creates a wall that can expand from 2in complerely folded to 25ft fully extended.

Description
Very interesting book, exploring not so much how the architectural spaces themselves define living spaces, but how space can be used more effectively, using interior design, or interior architecture to redefine how space can be used.

Description
If you like eco-friendly design, architecture, and reading while taking long bubble baths, then this book is for you. In William McDonough and Michael Braungart's manifesto for the new industrial revolution, where objects are designed with their full life-cycles, from raw materials, to their re-incarnation into another product. To prove their point, they've redesigned the book itself, printed on a synthetic paper, on the grounds that paper can only be recycled (downcycled) to a lesser product. First advantage of their plastic book, you can get it wet!

I love the way this bookshelf just looks like a pile of books when it is completely full. I'm actually looking for an additional bookshelf to keep some of the books I just bought or want to keep close by for a second or third reading, and this would be perfect for the bedroom. Description
I was browsing this book at the MOCA store in Santa-Monica today, and I almost bought it. L.A. is not known for its lofts, being essentially an East Coast thing, but that book has a compilation of some fantastic loft spaces, with as with L.A. a very eclectic mix from the usual uber modernist, to some very interesting mix, one is decorated like a Japanese Dojo, another has a a country farm look, and everything in between. I received this book as a gift, and I love it. Australia and New-Zealand has a lot of fantastic modern architecture, and this oversized book, is filled with fantastic pictures and covers residential architecture from beach houses on the gold coast to re-interpreted victorian terraces in the heart of Sydney. Description
Bought this book in a small bookshop in Newtown, a great little suburb in Sydney. This was a few months before my return to California, so I used this to dream a little. Of course, since I think most of these houses are worth more than a million dollars, I'm still dreaming.
It is however a great coffee table book, with fantastic pictures of some beautiful houses in the Los Angeles area. (via oO's very eclectic)

Description
Small is the new Big. 18 small but very modern japanese homes are covered in this book, all accompanied by beautiful photos. In a country where a thousand square feet is considered palatial, these houses still feel incredibly light, and roomy, thanks to a clever use of space, light and materials. (via oO's very eclectic)

Description
I bought this at one of my favorite independent bookshop in Venice Beach, small worlds book on the boardwalk (always support your neighborhood bookshop). The book is full of clever housing ideas and I love the clean lines and modern aesthetics of the Japanese architects.
The most amazing is the movement called the 9 tsubo house. a tsubo is a square defined by two tatami mats side by side, or roughly 3.3 m2 or 36 sqft these are tiny houses, but manage not to look cramped. (via oO's very eclectic)
