About this list:

Dia de los Muertos (or Day of the Dead) is a holiday celebrated on November 2nd in Mexico, and by Latinos (and others) in the U.S. and Canada. This holiday celebrates life by honoring death. People gather to pray for and remember the lives of family members and friends that have passed on. As with any holiday, there is a ton of stuff that is created all year round to commemorate it. Here is a list of creations that I came across.

Mask-Handmade for Masquerade/Costume/Halloween/Dia de los Muertos by Effigy, -Viuda Negra- by effigymasks on Etsy

First to recommend

Description

This elaborate mask , "Viuda Negra" or Black Widow is based on the Catrina, a female archetype of the weeping lady seen in Dia de los Muertos celebrations.

One of the things that struck me about the mask is the overall level of detail. The painting on the mask itself, to the raised headpiece adorned with burnt/painted silk roses, red/black spiders, and the black rose lace that cascades down to the waist of the wearer. (via etsy.com)
