Sparrow Purse Kit

First to recommend

Description

There are a lot of reasons I love this sparrow purse sewing kit from Sparrowkids. Clearly, it's just adorable, and the finished product will be worn proudly. Moreover, sewing is a great way for kids to practice fine motor skills. Better yet though, the company that creates the kits uses recycled felt and fairly traded supplies.

Description

Kids are hard on floors. Kids are hard on rugs. The stylish solution? A plynyl® woven vinyl area rug from Sandy Chilewich like these spiffy ones in faux bois. They're available in sizes up to 9'x6'. Of course, they'd be awesome in homes without kids, too. (via Better Homes & Gardens)

Trophy Lamp By Isabelle Rolland

10 people recommended this item

Description

I don't know what the recent craze about faux trophy heads is all about, really. Are we trying to reconnect to nature? Emphasize our distance from our hunting ancestors? Do deer trophy heads carry the same cultural connotations in the United States as they do in Europe? Has some cultural anthropology student already written this paper? ... it doesn't matter at the moment. I like this one: it does double (or triple?) duty.
