I don't always care for Hello Kitty items. I end up feeling like they aren't age appropriate for me. I suppose it's all in your perspective however. I do like this coin purse though. I'm a sucker for skull and crossbones, in most cases and the adding the Hello Kitty icon just seems totally mocking and "sacrilegious". Just my style.

A friend of mine commented recently that Dia de los Muertos decor is "over the top", tacky or garish. I couldn't really agree with any of those observations except for possibly that they are "over the top"...but on purpose. It's an exceptionally festive holiday. A tradition that goes back hundreds of years that people look forward to, relish and have a lot of fun with. You can't blame them for that, now can you? This "sugar skull" replica for example, is totally extreme! However, it's also rather creepy by my standards. Fun and creepy at the same time. Now I know that I'm not the only one that finds that combination appealing. (via etsy.com)

This would obviously be perfect to hang on your door around Halloween. In my case, Christmas and Halloween. The details: a black wreath covered in small styrofoam skulls, black silk roses, a "spider skeleton" in place of a bow at the bottom all scream creativity, if not, "I have issues!" (via etsy.com)

If insects are going to be close to me, this is the manner in which I prefer it. With the exception of my pet tarantula, the vast majority of them just creep me out. However, when it comes to them being encased in jewelry or display cases I can appreciate them a bit more. This Cicada pendant, for example, is beautiful. I think I just watched too many PBS documentaries as a child where there were close-ups of insects faces... (via bedebug.com)
