Publishers Lunch

Description
If you're a writer, and you're at all interested in the business of publishing, then you ought to sign yourself up for Publishers Lunch, which is a short list of news and happenings in the publishing "biz". Once you figure out if the price of "free" is worth it, then you can decide if the price of twenty bucks a month is worth it to sign up for Publisher's Marketplace, which is an online gathering of publishing pros and not-so-pros... I've opted out of the Marketplace for a few years because it didn't seem to be doing anything for me but make me crazy that I wasn't selling as many books as Aunt Matilda, and my blog was less popular than pictures of ugly dogs... but I do still get the Lunch. And frankly, you can't beat the price.

I was beginning to think that the possible acquisition of my favorite photoshare site by the evil empire was going to lead flickr into suckr... but with the advent of a deal between flickr and Getty Images, I'm thinking again, and am all too happy to have paid my membership fees a few days ago (again) so's that I'm all pro over there and stuff. And, of course, flickr also always has its free service, which is also awesome. If you are not slow, you likely already flickr. But if you don't, why don't you?

Indeed. I find it extremely difficult to take someone seriously when their primary address on the internets has anything whatsoever to do with the demon myspace.
Then again, I find it hard to take a lot of things seriously. So, you know... carry on.

SnagFilms is offering free documentaries... a place to show, a place to watch. Give it a go with a good one. Try Paper Clips, for starters. Really lovely story of kids collecting paper clips for every human being who was killed in the holocaust.
