Garmin Forerunner 405
2 people recommended this item
Description
I bought this last weekend, and used it during my San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon run. It helped me keep my target pace, and it seemed to be very accurate. I use the interval training feature very frequently, and the virtual partner option is helpful if you want to push your limits.
I did not use the heartrate monitor just yet, but I soon will during my future training runs.

ASICS Asics Gel Kayano 13 - Mens Stability
4 people recommended this item
Description
I've used the Kayanos for 3 marathons I've ran for the past year. I've gone through a new one each time and it never disappoints! Very light, great comfort throughout!
It all depends on what kind of foot arch and running form you have, so before you make this purchase, make sure you go to a specialized running store for the best recommendation.

PowerBar Gel
2 people recommended this item
Description
This Gel gave me my much needed boost of energy during my long training runs, and my marathons I've ran. I would recommend a flavor that is consistent to the texture of the gel, like chocolate, caramel, or vanilla. The fruity kinds weren't for me. Warning though: This didn't sit well on some of my team members' stomachs, so give it a try before you use it on a major endurance event, or else you'll be in the toilet as long as your runs! (pun not intended)

Nike Plus Sport Band
2 people recommended this item
Description
If you don't own an iPod nano but still would like to track your mileage in an affordable way (the other option would be a Garmin GPS which is $$$), the Nike Plus Sport Band is a great alternative. It's very lightweight, it easily plugs into any computer via USB, and you're connected to the Nike+ running community!
Be advised that you will need a Nike+ shoe, or you'll need some third party sensor holder that will attach to any of your existing running shoes.

Exercise Balls

Description
These balance balls are a great way to work out that core! I used to use them at work and people thought I was crazy, but little do they know it helped me out during my training. It promotes good posture and balance. I now use it at home whenever I'm on my desk, and when I need to do some stretches, or random core exercises, it's there at my convenience.

CLIF BAR SHOT BLOKS

Description
They are easier to swallow than gels and pack a nice energy punch. They are cheaper on a per calorie basis than most gels too. Everyone I know loves these things.

Aqua Jogger Water Fitness Belts and Kits
2 people recommended this item
Description
As silly as this sounds or looks, this is a great alternative to actual running outdoors if you happen to injure your knee or foot while running. A year ago, I slightly injured my left knee, and the coach recommended that I aqua jog. I put one of those belts on and jumped in the deep end. I simulated my run as if I was really running outside. I "ran" for a duration for 2 hours, but here's the drawback... BORING! Better than sitting on your ass being injured though!

Jelly Belly Sport Beans

Description
I love Jelly Belly Beans! What's even better is that these suckers will energize you on those long runs. I prefer the Gels myself, but this is a good alternative. It might be good for you if you like the sweet taste of jellybeans, and shouldn't upset your stomach, at least I don't think.

BodyGlide Anti-Chafing Stick
2 people recommended this item
Description
I never knew there was such a problem while running until I started doing endurance long runs. Chafe?!?! You'll chafe in places where you'd never imagine. TMI, I know... but as a guy, if you're a fan of The Office, Jim had his nipples bleed. That's because the texture of your shirt moving up and down while running will make them sensitive. Also, it's great for preventing blisters, chafing from your shirt, or fuel belt. So.... for preventive action, use this!
