Bumble and bumble Sunday Shampoo
2 people recommended this item
Description
Lots of my recommendations seem to mention smell, and this one will too -- I love the freshness of this shampoo. There are probably cheaper product-cleansing shampoos out there, but it doesn't matter. I love this stuff. While I don't always use it on Sundays, I do use it at least once a week as my curly, frizzy mop needs so much product to keep it tame that I need to clean the gunk out fairly regularly. The Boyfriend also uses this when he stays over. It's blue, so he doesn't mind using it as much. (via Mecca Cosmetica)

Stem Organics Smooth Skin Exfoliant
First to recommend
2 people recommended this item
Description
This exfoliant features teeny-tiny particles of bamboo (sustainable wunder-fibre!!) to do the scrubbing part -- the product is so silky you don't really realise it's a scrub until you rub it on your skin. Unlike the usual suspects that have giant, plainly visible "scrubbing beads" which just roll off the surface off you skin and into the sink, this product scrubs all the grit off your face and out of your pores.
I used to have serious issues with visible pores and blackheads on my nose, but found traditional scubs didn't do anything and acid-based exfoliants did a Michael Jackson on me -- my face went all pale and gross (no offence to your porcelain gals -- it's just not the look for me). But since I've been using this a couple of times a week, my skin is SO MUCH smoother and I need a whole lot less of the pore-corrector stuff to get a clear complexion (not that anyone ever notices your pores other than when you stare into a magnifying mirror, but you know the deal)!
The other plus -- it smells AMAZING. I can't put my finger down on the fragrance, but it sends me to olfactory heaven every time I use it.
Oh yeah, and like Stem's other products - it's organic, natural, vegan, Australian, and AMAZING. I know, I already used that word.

Stem Organics Gentle Cleansing Milk

Description
What are the buzz words for this Aussie skincare brand? Organic, Natural, Carbon Neutral, Chemical Free and FABULOUS!
This cleanser makes your skin feel amazingly clean (good start!) without making it feel horribly dry and tight. If you want to feel super-clean but still moist and fresh, check this out. The fact that the ingredients are as organic as possible (eg water can't be organic, so it's hard for something to be 100% organic) and that the company is carbon neutral - well, that's a bonus.
My favourite thing about this product is the smell -- the organic mandarin oil makes it so unique amongst other citrus fragrances, and I love the zing when I use it in the shower in the morning.

Kevyn Aucoin - The Mascara (Volume)
First to recommend
Description
Fabulous! I have long eyelashes already so I have been on the hunt for one that THICKENED WITHOUT CLUMPS because I either get clumps or spider lashes, not the thick shiny ones we all crave. Which I now have! Hooray!
Kev (can I call him that?)'s The Mascara was one of the original "shrink-wrap" types that tube around and come off in warm water with nary a flake or smudge during the day. LOVE. I never need to swipe cotton pads over my eyes or buy complicated oily two-phase removers again.
There are two types - Lengthening and Volume, I got the latter. Fab.
Only down side: it's too dramatic for workies, but I hardly ever have time to do makeup in the a.m. anyway.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner
15 people recommended this item
Description
This eyeliner lives up to the hype -- once you've got it on, it doesn't budge 'til you (or your makeup-remover soaked cotton ball) tells it to rack-off.
The trick to getting a really strong line that won't fade is to get a decent amount of product on the brush, but you have to be sure to be careful 'til it's dried out nice and good. Then you're off!
Bobbi is best. (Her extra fine eyeliner brush works a treat with this too)

MAC Retro Matte Lipstick RUBY WOO
First to recommend
2 people recommended this item
Description
The ultimate red lippie!
My favourite scene in "Rebel Without a Cause" is at the start where Natalie Wood is wearing this amazing red coat and has the most stunning red lipstick on. I have the red coat, and now I have the red lipstick.
Ruby Woo is described as being a "vivid blueish-red" and while that "blueish" bit makes no sense, I think they mean "cool".
This lipstick makes my teeth look super-white and while it's a matte finish, it doesn't dry out my lips. The only complaint that I have with it is that it's not kiss-proof -- and my boyfriend can't stop kissing me when I'm wearing it so it's a bit of a problem!!

Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer
First to recommend
Description
After umming and uhhing about which primer to commit to, I finally went with the original Aussie, the slightly too-shiney but nevertheless charming Napoleon Perdis' Auto Pilot. And I have NOT been disappointed. I've found my foundation has stopped mysteriously fading away during the day (where does it go when that happens??) and it has kept my skin calm even in the horrible chilly mornings when I'm waiting for the bus and then 15 minutes later get blasted with heating.
I have also started following the advice on the back which says, "do as I do, mix with a little bronzer for an undetectable no makeup look" (or something like that) and my complexion looks faaaantastic. But I'd probably recommend using a little *less* bronzer than Mr NP... cause he's way too shiny... especially for a guy.
