Resort 2010 Collection by Narciso Rodriguez

First to recommend

Description

Personally, I think the pictures should speak for themselves, but I something has to be said, let's let Nicole Phelps (style.com) say it:

"This is our most complete Resort collection ever," said Narciso Rodriguez, as his models strode out in peekaboo-toe flats wearing crisp short-sleeved blouses with cropped pants and wrap jackets topping sculptural skirts. The emphasis, however, was definitely on dresses—"they're what sell the best," the designer shrugged. Relaxed and loose, they were cut from indigo and white printed charmeuse or printed linen, while the more fitted silhouettes were crafted from "engineered silk/viscose knits" in ultraviolet or lilac. A trio of red-carpet numbers were loaded with the kind of Rodriguez signatures—cutouts on the bodice, graphic seaming, body-loving stretch fabrics—that keep the Hollywood A-listers coming back for more.

Key words (and forth coming trends?): wrap jackets, sculptural skirts, purple/indigo/ultra violet, and body-loving stretch fabrics

Purple the New Black! Devon Aoki in Alberta Ferretti

Description

I'm a little afraid of purple, especially the purples that are becoming so hot right now (the more ultraviolet purples). I could however, wear this shade of purple as it is soft without being bland. I also like the dress. A lot.

Resort 2010 New York by Calvin Klein

First to recommend

Description

From someone who speaks fashion better than I do:

Francisco Costa didn't put destination clothes on his Resort runway—no bikinis or caftans here—but the airy palette; the weightless, often diaphanous fabrics; and the way many of the looks fell away from the body did convey a mood of relaxed, unburdened ease. The "T dress," so named because of its off-the-shoulders silhouette, was a key piece—for day it was cut in transparent nylon and billowed asymmetrically to the knee; for evening it came in shimmering gray organza and grazed the top of the model's skimmy leather oxfords. A gold nylon knit jacket and matching bandeau top that evoked Fortuny seemed to radiate a light of their own, and an asymmetrical silk Lurex gown would positively glow at a sunset wedding. If the sheerness of many of the other pieces—see-through cuff-detail trousers?—was a bit puzzling, there were plenty of more practical but still chic options hanging on the showroom's racks.

Trends: unburdened ease, "T dress," asymmetrical, shimmering gray organza, and the biggest one: Sheerness

Do you think normal people could get away which such extreme textures? I hope so.

Trends: More of that sheer fabric, nude colors, the green, orange and the yellow, grey, (but no purple...) and billowy/tight combos. (via Modern Homebody)
