What's not to love? Fantastic illustrations, great story, and an opportunity for improvisation. I have read this to my boys at least 100 times. I still read it to them when they will let me, but that's pretty rare (they are 9 and 10 now).

In case anyone is wondering, the sound you should make for the wild ruckus is "ooga-booga ooga-booga ooga-booga boo." Okay, so it isn't written in the book... it's obvious, isn't it?

I loved this book, but only partially for its message. It is written in a wonderfully cantankerous style that one almost never encounters in books. The author has no problem making outrageous statements as if they are fact, with only his strong passion to clue you in that he might be overstating them to make a point. (via Gordon Gould)
