Country Music by Willie Nelson
1 recommendation
"I don't know much about Country Music, but I will say that Willie Nelson's Country Music is one of my favorite collection of County songs. It's not really a tribute to all of the greats of Country Music although it's filled with popular classics, or a greatest hits album, or heavy in stye and production unless you call smooth a style, it's just a good album that I enjoy listening to."
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Funtown Comedown
1 recommendation
"Yes, this is Bonnie "Prince" Billy, even though it clearly says "Bonny Billy." It's him, live with a legendary bluegrass, folk group and it's all in stride. This one is super fun and you need it for the upcoming summer, no doubt."
The CBGB Official Store: Women's Vintage CBGB T-Shirts - Burnout Skull

"Not just another t-shirt. This one stands for something. Namely CBGB. And Other Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers. Pair it with the skinniest of your skinny jeans for the first day back to the "s" word."
iTunes Store: Various Artists - Bandslam - Original Movie Soundtrack

"Maybe high school doesn't always rock but this movie - along with its killer soundtrack - will alleviate the boredom and help put bullies into perspective. Moviegoer bonus: an abbreviated tour of CBGB's."
Finger Picking Good Banjo T-shirt
1 recommendation
"My brother, who works too hard bought a banjo a year ago. He figured it would distract him. Ha. The banjo sits on his fancy banjo stand. He picks it up every couple of weeks and drifts off trying to practice. My bro looks happy when not working. I was looking for a banjo t-shirt to motivate him and fell on this shirt, and this site, www.tshirtpusher.com. Great stuff. I'm recommending anoth..."
Tonight :Franz Ferdinand
3 recommendations
"I've never been a glowing fan of Franz Ferdinand. I like, but just whatever. However, I have a floating policy to listen albums that get a 7 plus on pitchfork. This one pulled in at a 7.3. I haven't bought it yet, but I'm listening to some track on MySpace right now and I'm pleasantly grooving to them."
Farmhouse: Phish
1 recommendation
"I usually wouldn't recommend a studio album from Phish. However, this is the one that truly got me into the band -- to jam bands in general, really. In fact, it was really just one song, the title track. Listen to Farmhouse, it'll change your life."
Hampton Comes Alive: Phish
1 recommendation
"Without question, the best Phish album of all time. The set consist of 6 discs that cover two full concerts. The shows were recorded in '98 and the set was released the following here. Not to mention, the title is a hilarious pun on the Peter Frampton album."
A Live One: Phish
1 recommendation
"A band like Phish is better live than on a studio album, right. We're not talking quantum physics here, it's true. This '95 release is a double disc with 12 classic songs and all the jam bandy-ness you could ever hope for."
Gone Phishin: A Bluegrass Tribute
1 recommendation
"Even if you don't like phish. You'll like this instrumental, bluegrass tribute to fish. The high light, I think, is Wading in the Velvet Sea. Check that one out and you'll want the rest."

Feast or Famine - Chuck Ragan
1 recommendation
"Chuck Ragan is that rarest of things...a gifted songwriter, accomplished musician, and a truly wonderful human being. It's hard for us not to be biased about Chuck...he's a good friend. But his music stands on it's own, and our love for Chuck the Guy is completely unnecessary to appreciate Chuck the Musician. Feast or Famine is his first full-length after leaving Hot Water Music to spend m..."
Blue Ridge Guitars
1 recommendation
"I have a BR-160CE, which I love. I bought it as a "beater"/ "road guitar" (i.e., the idea was that if baggage handlers threw it around or stole it, I wouldn't be too deeply invested). However, it's now become one of my all-time favorites. Many other pro guitarists and guitar shop folks also know about these guitars and give them high marks. Saga has taken some of the best models and produced t..."

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

"The Coen brothers are amazing. This film is loosely based on Homer's 'Odyssey' and deals with the adventures of Everett Ulysses McGill and his companions Delmar and Pete (George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson) in 1930s Mississipi. Sprung from a chain gang and trying to reach Everetts home to recover the buried loot of a bank heist they are confronted by a series of strange characters...."
Pieta Brown - Mercury

Mumford & Sons Sigh No More 3 CD Boxed Set
1 recommendation
"Oh how I love these scrappy UK lads. I get the idea that not only can they pluck a stringed instrument and harmonize in four parts.... but they can probably each throw a solid punch. Sounds great with Fleet Foxes and the Avett Brothers."
The 77s - Holy Ghost Building
1 recommendation
"Voor hun nieuwste, Holy Ghost Building werd in 2 jaar tijd een 11-tal covers van oude blues, bluegrass en gospeltracks opgenomen, daarmee vooralsnog het meest back to the roots, in zowel muzikaal als textueel opzicht. Mike Roe kenmerkt het geluid zelf als 'Elvis, Scotty, Bill & D.J’. En dat is toch weer anders dan Roe’s side project met The Lost Dogs. De 77’s kunnen zo nog jaren mee."
Mountain Love: Hayseed Dixie

Rosalie Sorrels' "Strangers in Another Country"- GRAMMY NOMINATED for Best Traditional Folk Album
2 recommendations
"When she spoke of a person she considered very special, my mother would sometimes say, "She creeps into your bones." Rosalie creeps into your bones. When people find out that I love folk music, so often they say, "Oh, you mean like Peter , Paul and Mary." I answer, "No, like Rosalie Sorrels." I play them a little of "Report From Grimes Creek" or "Last Go 'Round" or "Strangers in Another Cou..."
