Bishop Allen Charm School
1 recommendation
"Perhaps I'm a wee bit brainwashed because the write of a blog a read constantly raves Bishop Allen. Either way, I've enjoyed this album for quite a while now. Even if it's not your thing, "Things are What You Make of Them" is a song everyone can groove to."
Bridge Over Troubled Water: Simon & Garfunkel
1 recommendation
"I'm a fan of almost anything from Simon & Garfunkel. However, most of my favorite songs are on this album. My all time favorite S&G song? That'd be The Boxer, of course."
Zaireeka: The Flaming Lips: Music
1 recommendation
"This is the eighth album from the greatest band in the world, The Flaming Lips. It's their 8th album, with a catch. It's actually comes on 4 different cds, you track down 4 cd players and hit play at the same time. Sure, you can buy the combined single disk now, but really it's not nearly as fun."
Noah and the Whale: Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down
3 recommendations
"This is the MP3 download of Noah and the Whale's first album. I'll just say this, I love it and I think you will too. It's fun, indie pop music."
Kinks: Lola versus Powerman and the Money-Go-Round, Part One
1 recommendation
"I'll be the first to admit, I had never heard this album until Wes Anderson decided to put three of its songs in The Darjeeling Limited. It peaked my interest, and I got the full album. I'll say this, the songs in the film are the best three on the album, the album as a whole is great though and not at all what you'd expect from the kinks. Strangers is the best song ever."
The Zombies: Odessey and Oracle
1 recommendation
"It's a recent rediscovery by me. From 1968, this was the final album of the band before they broke up, and reformed in the 90s. It's probably best known for the final track, "Time of the Season." However, the rest of the album isn't just progressive and different, but also amazing and something i'll listen to constantly for a long time to come."
What's Going on: Marvin Gaye
2 recommendations
"I'm a firm believer that everyone needs some Marvin Gaye in their life. This is the perfect place to start."
The Moldy Peaches: The Moldy Peaches
1 recommendation
"None of us had heard of the Moldy Peaches until Juno. It's okay. However, I think people should know that they actually have (had) more than one song. This is a full album of songs that are all sound similar to "Anyone Else But You.""
Falling Off the Lavender Bridge: Lightspeed Champion
1 recommendation
"Lightspeed Champion is Devonte Haynes, ex Test-Icle member. I first heard of him through Bob Boilen on NPR's All Songs Considered. If you're familiar, you know that getting a Boilen rec. definitely holds some weight. Not to mention, it will probably be articulated in a manner that is entirely too intelligent for most of us to understand. I've gotten task. If you like the other music I like, yo..."
Can't Wait Another Day: The Ladybug Transistor
1 recommendation
"Ladybug Transistor is a really random indie pop band, I saw at a small music festival. This album is very upbeat and joyful. Here's some random trivia for you too... John Cussack has their poster on his wall in High Fidelity."
Kenny G
1 recommendation
"Seriously, don't laugh. If you must laugh, please refrain from laughing until you've heard "Songbird." Any instrumental that can make #4 on Billboard's Hot 100 should be given the benefit of the doubt. I dare you to pop this song into the radio and not look at your significant other in a more-than-friendly way."
Tori Amos

"Anything by Tori gets me every time. She's my favorite artist, and there are just so many different songs, I can't name them all. Well, let me try to make a top-5 Tori mood-list. In no particular order: 1) Purple People 2) Raspberry Swirl 3) i i e e e 4) Icicle 5) Hotel Crap. That took all of 20 seconds to figure out. Gotta keep going. 6) Baker Baker 7) Hey Jupiter 8) Pancake ..."
The Long Road: Nickelback
1 recommendation
"Three words: "Figured You Out." If that isn't enough to rush out and buy the album, "Someday" can really put you into that longing mood, and "Because Of You" just makes me go berserk. Don't ask me why. I'm probably crazy."
Heart Shaped World: Chris Isaak
1 recommendation
"I don't actually expect anyone to buy this album. From what I remember, most of the songs were pretty cheesy. However, I link it so that you can pop over to iTunes, know what you're looking for, and purchase track number 5, "Wicked Game." If the song doesn't immediately do it for you, head over to YouTube and search for "Chris Isaak Wicked Game Video." Then slip off to the hot tub with you..."
Top Gun: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
1 recommendation
"Oh my god, where to begin with this album? "Take My Breath Away" will always remind me of the Charlie-Maverick hook-up after she chases him down in her 1958 Porsche Speedster. Hot car, hot girl, hot argument, hot kiss, hot sex. Hot hot hot. I sound like Paris Hilton, but whatever. Hot. One of my favorite songs of all-time. "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" makes me whimper. "Heav..."

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Mother's Milk
1 recommendation
"This album is the Grand Wizard of the funk punk genre, "Mother's Milk" is widely regarded as RHCP's best album and I couldn't agree more. This would have been one of the first albums I would have ever recommended but for some reason I was under the impression that I already had recommended it. Since there are so many great songs that come off of this album it is hard to pick a select few but "Good..."
Full Bloom: Soft Circle
1 recommendation
"Soft Circle is an experimental rock band that features Hisham Bharoocha, who was previously in Providence, Rhode Island bands Lightning Bolt and Black Dice. Full Bloom is Soft Circle's debut album and includes such songs as "Ascend" and Shimmer. Hisham Bharoocha is the artistic director of this year's 88BoaDrum in Los Angeles."
Mötley Crüe - Dr. Feelgood
1 recommendation
"Hell yeah motherf*******!!! Sorry about that, but that's how I feel about the boys in the "Crüe," a real man's band that will kick you in the face if you dare cross their paths. This is fifth (and most successful) album and it is one of their best. "Slice of Your Pie," the title track, "Sticky Sweet", "She Goes Down", "Don't Go Away Mad" and most especially "Kickstart My Heart" are real standouts ..."
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
3 recommendations
"Way back in 1990 the good ol' boys from Texas put out a metal masterpiece called "Cowboys From Hell." The album was put out when Pantera was transitioning from a glam rock image (they used to be a hair metal band) to a full on hardcore metal band. The reason I like this CD so much is because it is that transition that prevents them from being too over the top with the metalness while not wearing s..."
Velvet Revolver - Libertad
1 recommendation
"Velvet Revolver didn't come out as strong on there second effort but it's still a good try. I haven't heard the whole CD but "Let it Roll" stood out as a pretty good track."
Velvet Revolver - Contraband
1 recommendation
"I was a little apprehensive when I heard that three ex-Guns N' Roses members (Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Slash) were teaming up with an 90's alt-rock icon (Scott Weiland; ex-Stone Temple Pilots). I despise anything grunge/alternative/lame and STP was definitely on my radar of bands that needed to be destroyed. However Contraband was a good fit of 80's hard rocking-ness with a 21st century edge. ..."
Yellow & Elephant - Eye Alaska
1 recommendation
"I can say that I love Eye Alaska, even when all they have is an EP. "Yellow & Elephant" is not what you'd expect these guys to sound like though when you get a look at them. Their music is very soulful, but still has elements of the punk pop scene they belong to. They're simply amazing."
Poison - The Best of Poison: 20 Years of Rock
2 recommendations
"Poison is back baby!, Did they really ever go away? Like every night has it's dawn so do the guys of Poison. This album not only brings back memories but ROCKS!! CC's power chords shake the house and you have to love Bretts vocals. This is a must get for any hair band fan or rock AIR GUITAR player."
Metallica - Death Magnetic (Pre Order)
2 recommendations
"Death Magnetic, Metallica's new studio album has a lot of potential. Metallica fans have really been pissed with Metallica's work for the past 12 years (that's how loyal we are) and although Death Magnetic isn't going to be as good as "Master of Puppets" I think it is still going to kick major ass. I've heard 2 tracks off of here and one of them was done in classic Metallica style. Can't wait!"
Black Milk - Popular Demand 2XCD (Includes Broken Wax Instrumentals CD)
1 recommendation
"This is the instrumental version of Detroit producer Black Milk's "Popular Demand" album released in 2007. It's extremely solid. Black Milk's production is a breath of fresh air and helps fill the void left after J Dilla's passing."
John Vanderslice – Exodus Damage
1 recommendation
"You have to listen to John Vanderslice to believe just how wonderful it is, so I'll try not to overdo it with an overdone description of the overdoneness here. Just listen, okay? Okay."
Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles

"Ok, so the LP Record was just released on June 24, and it is amazing. It comes with the mp3 codes as well, so it is really a great value. This is such an amazing concert recording. Unbelievable quality, the performance and the craftmenship is amazing. I also hear that the DVD is incredible. Highly recommend, even for non-fans. Anyone who loves music will enjoy this record or dvd."
Crystal Visions - The Very Best of Stevie Nicks
1 recommendation
"I may not be able to live without my Pink albums but Stevie Nicks is my favorite. This CD has all of her best work so for those who aren't familiar (if you all exist) this is a good place to start."
