"For years, Scandinavian design house iittala has been releasing beautifully sculpted glass birds designed by either Oiva Toikka or Giorgio Vigna. With smooth colors and gracious lines these birds are always a design classic. They range in price from about $150-500 , with some going a bit higher. All are beautiful and unique. Take a look at the pics! The 2007 collection is really a stunner."

"iittala makes lots of nice things out of glass. I just saw this candle holder and have to say it's rather pretty. It's a simple, modern design, but has some warm, nice curves. It holds a candle in the top which reflects it's flame through the glass. It comes in subtly dyed colors, such as Blueberry or Moss green. By Finnish designer Harri Koskinen for iittala."

"As a child I couldn't quite understand why all of my Finnish relatives were so wrapped-up in Marimekko products. It felt as though the country had appointed the firm as its national design council. That being said, I'm no longer immune to the lure of their playful, yet refined, treatment of products. They are distinctive and typically seem to be well-made."
