Tape is dead which may or may not be a good thing.
The good thing is that you no longer have to encode your dailies, the bad thing is there are no confidence heads to see if you are really recording.

This is basically a hard drive that you need to spend a day with learning its subtleties. Not ...morea real good rental item and not made for the occasional oopsie drop.

The 2 big gotchas is to remember to turn it off when you put it in a case because it generates heat and never put the 400 firewire cable in backward with your camera or you will fry it.

It does record seamlessly files that can be copied to any fat 32 drive which is good. So you can edit on a mac or a pc .

The bad thing is that you have to determine if you are going to edit on a mac or a pc when you record. It does not convert later if you change your mind. And neither PC or MAC makes it easy to convert to either format.

Pays for it self if you are running and gunning.
