Trillian (Instant Messenger)

"Trillian is a great application for those of us that use multiple instant messaging services and accounts. I personally use Yahoo!, AIM and MSN. Trillian allows me to run one application and have access to all three services. Trillian also supports ICQ and IRC. The application is free for the basic version, and I don't recommend buying the pro version as there is almost no difference. Basic..."

"If you want to enforce horrible typing habits for your children that they will never be able to grow out of, this is the keyboard for you. It lists the letters alphabetically, has a www key, and has IM acronyms under the function keys-LOL, or should a say shift F10"

"Sometimes watching other people do it for the lulz is a guilty pleasure of mine. Just like I read the Darwin awards for a bit of ego boosting schadenfreude, so too did I read the VictimLogs at fugly.com. This is a quote from one made famous when lifted by "bloodninja." Google it if you don't know- but not from work."

"I have been using Pidgin as my chat client, but this really outshines! Not only can you have all your different IM accounts, but you can have your email accounts and social networking (Facebook, Twitter and MySpace). You can see updates from all of them in one handy app. Download this today and you can thank me later!!"

"This is the best instant message client ever! It's free and it makes it possible for anyone with an internet connection to instant message via Google, AOL, Yahoo, or MSN to chat without having to download software. I have used Trillian on a PC and Adium on a Mac and they are both great at making it easy to manage multiple accounts via one interface. Meebo does this too but this program is prejudic..."
Pidgin - Instant Messenger
1 recommendation
"Pidgin lets you use all of your IM accounts at once. It is so awesome (it used to be called GAIM). So much easier than having AOL, Yahoo, Gtalk, Windows Messenger, etc. all open at once. Install this and you will be hooked (especially if you are IM dependent like I am). Pidgin is a step up from GAIM (nicer UI, etc.). Install Pidgin and simplify your life!"
Availabot
1 recommendation
"Availabot is a physical representation of presence in Instant Messenger applications. Availabot plugs into your computer by USB, stands to attention when your chat buddy comes online, and falls down when they go away. It’s a presence-aware, peripheral-vision USB toy… and because the puppets are made in small numbers on a rapid-prototyping machine, it can look just like you."
