Yeah Ghost by Zero 7
1 recommendation
"if you're already a zero 7 fan and haven't head their latest album you might be in for a surprise. this album is quite different from their usual down tempo and slightly melancholy tracks. my favorite on this album is the completely and brilliantly schizto track ghost symbol."
Jahta Beat by DJ Drez
1 recommendation
"wow, i had the fortunate experience of being given this album by dj drez himself. i happened to attend an art opening in culver city in which dj drez [whom i wasn't familiar with before that night] was spinning at. i immediately fell in love with his worldly sound. after speaking with him briefly he handed me a CD and since then I have been a loyal and devoted fan. to immediately transcend your sp..."
Hymn to the Immortal Wind: Mono
1 recommendation
"As the band, really, that inspired ones like Explosions in the Sky or Mogwai, due respect has to be given. Their newest still, somehow, keeps me interested... interested in a this music should be a score kind-of-way."
Gone Phishin: A Bluegrass Tribute
1 recommendation
"Even if you don't like phish. You'll like this instrumental, bluegrass tribute to fish. The high light, I think, is Wading in the Velvet Sea. Check that one out and you'll want the rest."
DANNY MASSURE: What It Is
1 recommendation
"Danny Massure is a true musician: DJ, producer, songwriter, drummer, and a couple other things, he certainly knows how to make some good music. This is shown well on his new album What it is. Massure is at the forefront of the Acid/Jazz/Funk movement, doing it all from Seattle, Washington. There are no samples on his new release, either...this cat is old school, doing everything instrumental and r..."
Farewell Good Night's Sleep » Lay Low
1 recommendation
"What a lovely surprise from Iceland! Lay Low is one gal, who plays honest songs that are sometimes indie pop twee, folksy, bluesy, and at times even with a genuine hint of Nashville. Her voice is sweet, similar to her countrywoman Emiliana Torrini. Give it a whirl."
Finally We Are No One: Múm
1 recommendation
"By far one of the best bands, and records, to come out of Iceland. More straight-up ambient and less orchestral than their countrymen Sigur Ros, this is an excellent CD. (FYI: the band's name is pronounced "moom")"
Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do: Sigur Rós
1 recommendation
"This is the music that accompanied Sigur Ros's collaboration with The Merce Cunningham Dance Company at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which I was lucky enough to have seen in person. Experimental, melodic, organic, avant-garde. Just plain interesting. Although it's better with the modern dance to go with it, still a great standalone recording."
Me∂ Su∂ I Eyrum Vi∂ Spilum Endalaust: Sigur Ros

"Their most recent foray finds the Icelandic band -- known for its inctricate, dense and intense compositions -- at their most spare. Piano and voice, guitar and voice. Many people have been critical of this album, but i think it's gorgeous. It's nice to see them progressing and evolving."
Rodrigo y Gabriela CD

"Saw them on tv and immediately turned to computer to order. Great music, love them. In one song I heard sounds reminiscent of S American flutes when i know it was just 2 guitars."

Black Milk - Popular Demand 2XCD (Includes Broken Wax Instrumentals CD)
1 recommendation
"This is the instrumental version of Detroit producer Black Milk's "Popular Demand" album released in 2007. It's extremely solid. Black Milk's production is a breath of fresh air and helps fill the void left after J Dilla's passing."
There Will Be Blood Soundtrack

"First off, Jonny Greenwood guitarist of Radiohead did this beautifully haunting soundtrack to what I thought was the best movie of the year... one review called it "avant-garde Romanticism" ... Indeed."
John Legend - Heaven - EP
1 recommendation
"The A Cappella version of "Heaven" makes this EP worth every penny. But wait ! There's more. A rap remix and an instrumental version too. Of course, John's voice is already divine."
Chasing Fireflies: the ramones lullaby cd

"Why shouldn't your baby get treated to the same great music that you enjoy? Whether the little one is still in the womb or is already crawling, you can start them on a new musical journey with these soft, soothing renditions of Ramones songs. You just might enjoy it too !"

"This was the first album I purchased by Sigur Ros. It is stunning and beautiful. You can even read the English / Icelandic lyric translations if you go to http://alwaysontherun.net/sigur.htm. See the most popular track's music video (Svefn g Englar) on YouTube by using the via link."
Panamericana: Federico Aubele: Music
1 recommendation
"I suppose that if you don't listen to much radio, stay away from friends who know about music and shield yourself from culture in your spider hole, you probably wont know about Federico Aubele. However, if you do keep your ears open, you probably heard his sultry sounds resonate in your ear and soul. My first experience with Federico was when a friend played a track. "This sounds good" I though..."
Ghosts I - IV: Nine Inch Nails
1 recommendation
"Wonderfully atmospheric release from Trent & Co. All instrumental, an oddly, very relaxing. Yes, it has it's heavy moments, but overall the tone is much more sedate than you'd expect from NIN."
Italia - Chris Botti
1 recommendation
"Chris Botti has made a name for himself in the classical music scene, and he is being celebrated with a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Album for Italia. Listen and love."
The Mix-Up - Beastie Boys
1 recommendation
"I went to a Beastie Boys concert this year and came out a bigger fan than when I danced around to Brass Monkey all through middle school. It's great to see the boys nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Album for The Mix-Up."
A Retrospective Brian Jonestown Massacre
2 recommendations
"It's a favorite collection, worthy of desert island status. Someone please remind me why Brian Jonestown Massacre isn't as big as U2."
A Day Without Rain (Enya)
3 recommendations
"I know Enya is not for everybody but I like her music. Enya’s "A Day Without Rain" shows that this New Age-Celtic artist is still going strong. Her ethereal vocals and strong, synthesized instrumentals endure in this, her seventh album. Not only does Enya’s ability to infuse powerfully poetic lyrics with a wealth of emotion solidify on this album, her grasp of vocal harmony is at its peak. Every t..."
Madvillain (Madvillainy)
5 recommendations
"With Madlib's incredible mix of jazzy, head bumpin' beats and MF Doom's lyrical winds this is one you'll have in your weekly rotation. This is the un-Hip Hop, Hip-Hop CD. If you appreciate lyricism layed over some beats you've never heard; I introduce you to Madvillain. This is a must for any music lover with good taste and an I.Q. over 100. Quasimoto also comes in on "Americas Most Blunted""
kingsley charcoal intrumental long sleeve tee
1 recommendation
"A fab little boy's tee. The intensely cool graphic on the front shows a skull overlaid with sheet music. Across the back shoulder blades, and on one sleeve, is the word "InstruMental". Unfinished edges at the hem and sleeves. A little bit of creepy and a whole lot of rockin'."
The Shining Instrumentals
1 recommendation
"Who is "J Dilla" and isn't "The Shining" a movie? I'm confused. But again, my grandson gave me this CD. There's no vocals on it, just music...good music at that. Some of it I recognize from older songs, but here it seems reworked somehow. My grandson calls it "sampling". I call it theft, but at least they made some good music out of it."
Puddle City Racing Lights
1 recommendation
"I was lucky enough to stumble upon this new artist when I was stranded at the HMV record store at Ikebukuro station. I had nothing to do for like a couple hours so I decided that I would sample every CD listening station they had. When I got to Windmill it just (pun intended) blew me away! The music is just so pure."
