"...with their second (or third) album, Swell Season ushers in 12 expected, but equally beautiful, melodic, happy songs. Yeah, We're talking about Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová -- yeah, the people from Once."
Hunger
1 recommendation
"Hands down the best film I've seen this year. A brilliant first feature film by video artist Steve McQueen about the story of IRA member Bobby Sands and the hunger strike he undertook while imprisoned in the early 1980s. Without posing moral judgement, the film highlights the subjectivity and power of conviction as well as its possible profundity and futility. This movie is scarce on dialogue but ..."

The designer says: Baronessa is elegant, smart and know how to play the game of higher society.... This necklace is worth Baroness..."

Wood B Design - Irish Hand Crafted and Commissioned wood pieces - The perfect gift - Athlone Westmeath Ireland
1 recommendation
"My aunt commissioned a piece of art from these guys for my wedding here in CA. It's made of 4,800yr old bog-oak and seems to have a gravity and aura all its own. The pictures just don't do any justice to the experience of holding this ancient wood in your hands after it has been imbued with the creativity of the artist. It's what I would grab if the house were burning!"

Things You Probably Don't Know About Ireland > Ireland Fun Facts Shop
1 recommendation
"I've been to Ireland many times - my grandparents came from there. I'm a big fan of the culture - it's really alot more eccentric and different from the U.S. than alot of the travel books say. This is a funny little book about strange old customs, traditions, and funny news stories that have come out of Ireland recently. Written in a deadpan kind of style, but very amusing, and I actually learned ..."
Lemsip Sachets
1 recommendation
"You can keep your Thera-flu, thank you very much. Lemsip is, in my experience, far and away the best hot sipping cold remedy next to the all-time great, the hot toddy. But the uber cure? Combine Lemsip AND a toddy. You'll wake up cured. Really."

"My oldest daughter has been mad for faeries since she was just a few years old. She builds them houses in the trees around our cottage in Ireland, draws countless pictures of them and believes with all her heart that they exist. St. Patrick's Prayer Bracelet
1 recommendation
"From the site: St. Patrick's Prayer Bracelet This day I call to me: God's strength to direct me, God's power to sustain me, God's wisdom to guide me, God's hand to uphold me, God's pathway before me... A moebius strip is a two-dimensional surface with only one side, a loop that truly never ends. This bracelet has the prayer of St. Patrick running across the entire moebius-sha..."
Heinz Salad Cream
1 recommendation
"If I had to choose a "last sandwich EVER," chances are it would have Heinz salad cream on it. No longer do I have to cart it back from Ireland- it's delivered straight to my door these days. Irish bacon + tomatoes + Brennan's toasted white bread + salad cream = foodgasms"
Robinson's Orange Barley Water
1 recommendation
"No, you don't taste the barley, silly. And whatever you do, don't forget to DILUTE it before you drink it! I'd always have a 'glass of orange' when I'd come home from the pub or to start the day. Sometimes the timing of those was a bit too close for comfort. But I digress. Great stuff, this. Great stuff."
Bird's Custard Powder
1 recommendation
"Add milk and sugar and voila! The creamiest, yummiest custard ever. I use it for Irish trifle- layer fresh berries, jams, custard and pound cake sprinkled with sherry (of COURSE there's booze in it. Did you expect otherwise from me?). Bird's is the only "real" custard on earth, in my opinion.... ; )"
Robertson's Lemon Curd
1 recommendation

McVities Milk Chocolate Digestives
1 recommendation
"My absolute favorite of the McVities' cookies- the milk chocolate digestives. Horrible name, that. "Digestives." But the taste? Oh my god, delicious. Here's the trick- dip them in a hot cup of tea juuuust long enough (maybe 2-3 seconds) to get the chocolate a bit melted but NOT long enough to make the cookie soggy or it will fall into the cup. Yep. It's an art form."
Cadbury Chocolate Flakes
1 recommendation
"Every year when I go back to Ireland I get a request from all our Irish friends on this side of the pond- BRING BACK FLAKES. BOXES AND BOXES OF FLAKES! Sigh. I literally load up on cases of chocolate at duty free on my way home. Thank god they're now available here. So those of you who always ask? Bugger off. Now, once you've secured this most gorgeous of candy products, what can you do with it..."
