Slum Village Tribute Tee

"back in the fall of 2009 i was browsing and my computer screen landed on this! i immediately purchased the tee which pays tribute to the 2 founding members of slum village who have passed away - Jay Dee and Baatin. real hip-hop heads also see that this is a tribute to run-dmc as well, as it uses their classic logo."
2k8 B-Ball Zombie War ~ Peanut Butter Wolf

"it's the hip-hop version of the Beatles, no it's beyond that, "2k8 B-Ball Zombie War" is a sonic elixir, a touchstone, a pulse, a cult generator, a record of a collective expression focused through the discerning ear of audio visionary Peanut Butter Wolf. I'm sure it's on heavy rotation on the decks of NASA, Discovery, the International Space-station and the Bulgarian Playboy Magazine office in So..."

The Shining Instrumentals
1 recommendation
"Who is "J Dilla" and isn't "The Shining" a movie? I'm confused. But again, my grandson gave me this CD. There's no vocals on it, just music...good music at that. Some of it I recognize from older songs, but here it seems reworked somehow. My grandson calls it "sampling". I call it theft, but at least they made some good music out of it."
Jay Love Japan CD by Jay Dee (J Dilla)

"J Dilla's "Jay Love Japan" is a good album for any hip-hop purist to add to their collection. Shelved for almost a year, this is one of J Dilla's last productions before passing away from lupus. The album features Ta'Raach and Baatin (formerly of Slum Village)."

J Dilla: "Donuts"

"This is a stellar instrumental album which captures some of J Dilla's unfinished work mid-way through his creative process. It's like a 31 track ride through the mind of who many regard as the best hip-hop producer of all time."
J Dilla: "The Shining"

"This is by far one of the best releases of 2006. Producer/Emcee J Dilla (aka Jay Dee) was an original member of the Detroit group Slum Village and was responsible for the legendary sound behind groups like the Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest. The album features Common, D'Angelo, Busta Rhymes, Pharoahe Monch, Madlib, and others and possesses some of the most emotional, profoundly creative instrum..."
